  1. Tied with-- Kajagoogoo: Too Shy .. You sir, are a brave woman! I kind of like the song as well, but never would admit that to anyone's face! "Hey, you know a song I liked back in the day, Kajagoogoo's Too Shy, Shy" Nope, never would do that.
  2. Well, only one song I truly hate, and I'm told I have to choose some other song ! (I just get pissed when I hear it cuz they could have cranked out 3 memorable tunes in it's place) I remember A playboy short interview just about what John had to say about songs he and/or McCartney wrote that somehow wasn't used in conjunction the long interview that came out before John's death. (I think it was in the April 81 issue, WELL worth finding!) John would say who did the bulk of the writing, or what he thought of a song...and I remember him really badmouthing his own song Glass Onion, just a throwaway I think he said...lyrically, that was true, but I love the sound of the song, so there! I think they were some other tunes where the lyrics are throwaway, I mean what deep meaning can one grasp from "Lovely Rita" but it is still one of my favorite songs they ever did, don't ask me why. And I have played I am the Walrus more than any other song ever! Smoke Pot, smoke pot, everybody smoke pot! Or is it, Got one, got one, everybody's got one? So, if you badmouth it, I'm gonna kick your ass! Or not....
  3. Speaking of old 1st basemen that could still help the braves today, what happened to Fred McGriff after Tampa let him go? No one needs a power hitting backup 1st baseman/pinch hitter?
  4. Last year, Andres Galarraga hit .301 with 12 homers, and 42 R.B.I. and no one took a chance on him this spring, now this..... Veteran first baseman Andres Galarraga, who is currently a free agent, apparently has had a recurrence of the non-Hodgkins lymphoma that kept him from playing all of the 1999 season and flared up again in 2002. Galarraga, 42, has been battling cancer since November, the Contra Costa Times newspaper reported Tuesday. Galarraga "He's better now, he's much better," Giants third baseman Edgardo Alfonzo, a fellow Venezuelan and former San Francisco teammate, told the Times. "I haven't heard anything negative. I heard he wants to come back during the All-Star break, but he doesn't want to play far from his family [in West Palm Beach, Fla.]." Galarraga, a popular power hitter known as "Big Cat" during his career, is two home runs short of 400. He's driven in 1,423 runs and has a career .288 batting average in his 19 big-league seasons with Montreal (two stints), St. Louis, Colorado, San Francisco (two stints), Atlanta and Texas. He was with the Braves when first diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 1999, and the cancer returned in 2002 after he rejoined the Expos. Galarraga played in 110 games during a second stint with the Giants last season, hitting .301 with 12 homers and 42 RBI in 272 at-bats. He was not tendered a contract by the Giants before Dec. 7, meaning he couldn't be re-signed by the club until May. At this point, a return to the team at the All-Star break does not appear likely. "I haven't talked with him since I left for spring training," manager Felipe Alou told the Contra Costa Times. According to the newspaper, Alou's daughter attends the same high school in West Palm Beach as Galarraga's daughter. "At this hour, you don't know if he's baseball ready. As close as we are, I don't know what his intentions are. "My wife saw him in West Palm and she said he looked good. He's healthy and in good spirits. He told her he sends his best wishes for us. Maybe I'll give him a call and see where he's at." Galarraga has said he'd like to reach 400 homers before he officially retires.
  5. Don't ya'll think that outside of the political forums, this is a pretty calm board? Not to badmouth AAJ(honest) but it got old seeing folks arguing about jazz, it wasn't in a constructive way at all, just pissing on others opinions just cuz...I like that I rarely see anything like that here.... Now to check out AAJ, since I haven't in a month or so....
  6. I assume this is good, correct? You are a complete and utter BASTARDIZATION of the English tongue! Unless this is your third language, there is absolutely no excuse for your ignorance. You shame us with your speech. Go back and finish your schooling, bastard.
  7. Did you ever see the show "Bizarre"? It ran on Showtime (And I assume somewheres in Canada since everyone seemed to be Canadian on the show) It was quite funny to me back in the early 80's, plus they always found a reason to get one of the females on the show naked each week....what more could you ask of a comedy show? Wonder what he does these days?
  8. Man, am I surprised you said that about those commercials! I can't stand them! I keep thinking, is it worth the money to keep doing them? Is the contract iron clad, just no way out? Different strokes for different folks I guess.
  9. Oh yeah! His stuff about his family was classic...was surprised he never went further...
  10. So, it is wrong to give the bird to bird fans? Well, till his knees went out, he was so fast, he had 50 triples over 3 seasons...trade worked out the best for the Cards, but I still missed him...and Ozzie used to hit .250 probably the last great field no hit players(yeah, he got better) we will see in the hall....who will go in with a lifetime BA of .262 these days?
  11. Good god! SV is a giant! and a man!
  12. Anyone remember "Bake" McBride? I was sooooo pissed when the Cards traded him to the Phillies...I knew it was a mistake...My first favorite player, then Gary Templeton, then Ted Simmons was my man... traded all of them away! Anyway, Bake had a head of hair as well....
  13. Ah thanks...I wasn't sure if he was the black Fred Lynn, and always injured!
  14. Ah...I thought it would be someone I heard of! Strange...I did a quick check on his stats...why the hell didn't the yankees play him more???? 1980 30 NYY AL 78 194 40 54 10 2 14 50 278 376 567 Batting left, he should have had 350+ AB's. Was he always injured?
  15. Quincy, love the avatar...who is it?
  16. It was raining, and in the 40's last Tuesday! Winter had to get one final lick in...but great as of late...low 80's...must have been humid today, as every time I came to a stop, I was getting hot in my car...time to get the air charged!
  17. Man, that is sad! The discography was mentioned in the Bunny Berigan Box set , as well as the Berigan biography a few years back....How could it have taken the police so long to figure out a 76 year old man didn't just up and leave? His stuff is boxed up, but no big deal? Not only did the author mispell Berigan's name over and over, but the sex of the brother as well, somehow... Have one shoestring lp, wish some of the stuff had been released on cd....Hope this woman didn't throw away his research!
  18. Hell, I'll take Sophia over Bridget then! Hell, I'd take either back in their prime....I'm not picky! :rsmile:
  19. Perhaps a poll of the women on this board might be of interest. I have a feeling Rachel and Maren don't have a problem with it, but I could be wrong. I posted Chris Farley's butt crack Gif and while I was offended, I didn't hear too many complaints.
  20. Sounds like you had fun, why doesn't the Avatar say the same thing?
  21. What are you doing up so late, anyway?
