Yeah, I don't understand the talk of still not getting a K-Rod or Brian Fuentes, after seeing how very important a true closer is. New park, new stadium, no money??? Give me a break. Not complainin' if you guys don't, mind you!

Hey, glad we could help! I think our playing the Mets well in NY shows they are not quite a playoff team. So many nasty mets fans feel the need to inundate braves forums, I really end up disliking them more than the Phillies. Almost all of us are Phillies fans right now.

Just to clear up my comments, I didn't think too much of Intolerable Cruelty either. My mention of it in my post was meant as a put down of Burn After Reading, not an endorsement. Personally, I found Clooney's overacting much more annoying in Burn After Reading. On the acting front, I thought most of the actors in Burn did a great job with what they had; I don't blame the actors at all. I just think the story was poorly written, as if they got to a point and said "fuck it; I'm not sure what we can do to fix this..let's go ahead and start filming." The previews alone left me cold about this film. Everyone seemed to be over the top...and that can get real old, real fast. Somehow never saw Lebowski, so can't say nothin' about it. Intolerable Cruelty was pretty bad, but it did get better towards the end. I am a fan of there's but the one film of their's I just flat out hate, is Raising Arizona. For the life of me, don't know why so many people love it.

Man you Sox fans, you kill me!!! Matt Garza, a shitty pitcher??? I have heard more than once his stuff compared to Smoltz. 11-9 3.66 ERA for the year, still 24. I'll take that shit any day....

GA, that's interesting, didn't know any shows went from TV to radio! If you dig around the link I posted above, you can watch some other TV shows(with short commerical breaks) like Hawaii 5-0, and others....

Comrade, God forbid(Pardon the expression! ) the people have a say in what they do with their own money. What was the percentage they were talking about again??? Your filtered press may have hid this info from you, but did you know that there is going to be an inevitable Social Security shortage???? That your pals have been into the till and spending the surplus??? But, don't let people be able to invest their own money, Government knows best!

Don't ever say I didn't ever do anything for you! Well, you can say it, but it wouldn't be true.... Paladin

Chris, I don't know if you heard this, but in almost every recount,(Conducted by a press that dearly wanted to prove Bush lost) Bush won! Hope you can take this shock, since you have been railing against the SC for 8 years! Gosh, remind me again, which party has been in control of congress the past 2 years???? What have they been doing about this crisis???
-
I was shocked to hear he of all people pitched a no hitter, but wasn't it 110 pitches???? I am sure that was above the pitch count, but that is just cruel to take someone out when they clearly have their best stuff of the year....and I imagine he might have broken bones by hitting walls if he had been taken out after the 6th or 7th....

Comrade, some on your side don't seem to be aware that criminals pretend to be both Republicans, and Democrats.... They’ve stacked their payrolls with top Washington power brokers of all political stripes, including Republican John McCain’s presidential campaign manager, Rick Davis; Democrat Barack Obama’s original vice presidential vetter, Jim Johnson; and scores of others now working for the two rivals for the White House.

Repelled by an assault weapon fire you say??? If they burn up that quickly, they must have been made by your Chinese brothers!!!
-
The more relevant question is what would Phil "Nation Of Whiners" Gramm do... and I think the answer comes out just about the same either way... (do I smell a move to the Political forum coming up?) Oh, probably, after I point out the chosen one has gotten a $126,000 in the last 10 years from..... Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Funny, if you check out the link, the top 3 on the list are all Democrats!!! Who'd a thunk it??? They are the good guys!

I was just assuming David Price wasn't going to be called up this year, but nope, he is! Now, just have a certain closer get hurt before the playoffs, and you can put him on the roster like the Angels did with K-Rod many years ago! http://blogs.tampabay.com/rays/2008/09/price-called-up.html

Just enough! They have turned it around though, and should be in the thick of it next year...

Same here...I think I saw this awhile ago...and all I could think of then was is if that was me hanging, my palms would turn their tiny faucets on, and that would be that! -
I mean the eye over Galveston and Houston....it's really bad near Houston from what they are showing on the Weather channel...
-
Here's a shot of the radar....man, what a big storm! And right over Galveston and right over Houston....
-
And anyone that would stay on Galveston is just bat shit crazy!
-
Thank God it's not this big and with 150 MPH winds! Sounds like it's almost too big to gain strength.

Was $3.69 when I went out to lunch with a friend at Noon. It was the same price at Sam's club at 4 pm, and there were long, long lines. Grabbed some stuff inside, came out...pumped were closed. Guess they ran out. Then I saw $3.79 at the next station. It was packed, but it was also Friday afternoon. Then the next 3 stations were $3.99!!!!

As hot as Toronto is, the Astros might even be hotter. And this is with Carlos Lee on the disabled list! It would be kinda cool if one of those teams somehow slipped in.... By Mark Simon, ESPN On July 27, the Astros were in last place in the National League Central, trailing even the Pirates. Six weeks later, they're no longer a laughingstock. Instead, they may be this year's version of the Rockies. The Astros have won 13 of 14 after beating the Pirates again on Wednesday, and are now even with the Phillies, four games behind the Brewers in the NL wild-card race. What has been the key to their success? Roy Oswalt and Jose Valverde have basically been unhittable. Even without Carlos Lee, the offense has clicked, with Geoff Blum, Ty Wigginton and Miguel Tejada, who belted a grand slam in Wednesday's win, picking up the slack. Astros, since July 27 • Have gone 32-11. • Wigginton (32) and Blum (29) lead the team in RBIs. • Are now 16-2 record in games started by Oswalt and Randy Wolf. Oswalt alone is 7-1 with a 2.20 ERA. • Valverde and LaTroy Hawkins have allowed one run in 34 2/3 innings. Valverde has 16 saves during the hot streak. • Won all four extra-inning games they've played. • Posted a 22-8 record without Lee. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/notebook?page=bbtn
