That's great news Jim!!! Kinda fits into the season, doesn't it????

Basically, it was decided that you would foot the bill for this board completely. Thanks bud!

I'd pay money to see that. But I hear Berigan has two right feet. Hey! I am a tried and true lefty!!! I have to do everything as a southpaw! Which of course puts me in my right mind!

Make sure you order it that way when you go to Chicago! I'll do that, while wearing a Cardinals cap on! I have a friend from Philly that can't imagine the red stuff on a dog....for those that don't do that though....ever tried it on one????? -

Don't know why I can't find the story on the TV stations website...I'll keep looking though. Doing a google search, I did find this article from earlier in the year, that explains many an interesting fact about generic pricing.... Clark Howard's Tips How to get the best deal on prescriptions Thursday, March 22, 2007 The Wall Street Journal has done a research project on prescription drugs, showing the disparity in the industry. The price difference — even between generics — is huge. The last survey found Costco Wholesale to be the cheapest. This time, it was Sam's Club with Costco coming in No. 2. For example, Zocor is $90 at Walgreens, $80 at CVS, $12 at Costco and $6 at Sam's Club. The generic of Zoloft was $74 at Walgreens, $70 at CVS, $6 at Costco at and Sam's Club it was $5. What's happening? Instead of pricing generics up from the wholesale cost, places like Walgreen's and CVS discount from the cost of brand name drugs. So a generic may cost them $3 at wholesale, but they charge $70 or $80 because it's still less than a brand name. That's why CVS and Walgreens push generic drugs so hard. They make a ton on generics because they mark them up so much. So it's clear that filling your prescriptions at Costco and Sam's Club is the way to go. If you're worried about being a member, don't. In many states, you don't need a membership to get prescriptions from those warehouse clubs. http://www.ajc.com/money/content/shared/mo...0322health.html

Group hug, group hug!!!!! Hey, watch those hands Allen!!!

Don't forget the salty snacks! Ummm, no....I won't go there....

I agree with you. I made my suggestion more because I don't want to see the board become a "subscription required" thing than a desire to get more. Though if there was some porn that you could get from a subscription.......

I have had jury duty this week(Never actually went into a courtroom, but I was there at the ready) so, I haven't had a whole lot of time to chime in....but, very happy to see it appears the board will survive!!!! Where else can one talk about politics, baseball, movies, Hybrid Cars, Astronaut Sex, all in one place, and with people who have at least half a brain???? Shoot, you can even talk about music here, I've been told! Perhaps one can start a discussion on how Charlie Parker is overrated(Kidding JS, Kidding! ) Really, it'd be a crime to have this board vanish into thin air....
-
For once Chris, I agree with you! You may not be right as often as a stopped clock, but every once in a blue moon.....

Bruce, sorry to hear about your heart troubles! I looked into getting drugs from Canada(Legal ones! ) a Gall bladder pill called Atigall(Sp?) It was very expensive, something like $170!!! Turned out it was a bit more of a pain than I thought it was going to be to get it from Canada, then it turned out with shipping, it wasn't even $20 bucks less than the price at Wal-Mart! I will look later for more info from consumer advocate Clark Howard,(Besides the link below) he was on a local TV station talking about this issue just a few weeks ago. He mentioned something interesting about how much of a difference there is in prices between even places such as Sams Club and Wal-mart. He also mentioned that in Georgia at least, you could get prescriptions at Sams club without being a member! http://clarkhoward.com/topics/prescription_plans.html

Board closing thoughts
BERIGAN replied to connoisseur series500's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Conn, I am glad you mentioned it here, because I wouldn't have noticed it on the Forums Discussion section!!! Shocked, to say the least...I understand though...haven't dug thru all of the many posts there, but has anyone mentioned having trusted old timey folks running the board for Jim??? Perhaps 4-5 folks like JSngry, RDK, Ghost, Conn, BFrank, etc, could do this???? Just mentioning.... -
At the risk of creating even more talk of the Sox, what or rather who will end of replacing Manny after '08??? Or do you think there is a chance they might try to keep him?? Man, a 37-38 year old Manny in left might make a 43 YO Bonds look good!

I've got a double today. A hit from 6 - 8 and another hit from 8:30 - 11:30.. I can deal with snow, but this 'storm from hell' is predicted to turn into freezing rain and sleet that could accumulate up to an inch of ice! This kind of weather is the worst and often costs me a gig or two and being caught in the middle of it terrifies me.. You have absolutely no control of a vehicle on ice. A gig ain't worth that, just keep your ass at home!!!!

Oh yeah, winter yeah...brrr....it's only 65 today, I may have to wear pants instead of shorts! It is getting down into the mid 30's at night, so you can get screwed if you don't take a coat with you at night. Actually, I have seen snow a few times in Atlanta around Thanksgiving....might be the only time we get it all year as well! And Chris, your trees look like our trees right now...I wanted to take some photos of the pretty leaves a week or so ago, but forgot. Only 4-5 months til leaves are on the trees again.

No, believe it or not, he was only a Type B pick.....some of the reasons why the Braves didn't offer it to Andruw, from the blog of the AJC beat man David O'Brien....A bit long. The man likes to write, and I shortened it!!! With Andruw and Dotel, I’d say there’s no way the Braves will offer arbitration to either. They don’t want to be stuck with perhaps a $14-16 mill salary for Jones, whose agent, Scott Boras, sent the Braves into scramble mode to meet payroll when he had client Greg Maddux accept arbitration from the Braves years ago, when the Braves thought there was no way the veteran pitcher would do so. Everyone I’ve talked to believes as I do, that Boras has far overestimated the market for Jones, and that it’s a pipe dream to think the 10-time Gold Glove winner is going to get anywhere near $20 million a year in a long-term contract. If Boras doesn’t think Jones can get more for Jones than, say, $14 mill per in a four-year contract (just tossing around figures, haven’t heard any proposed offers yet), then what’s to stop Boras from having Andruw accept arbitration? I know what he’s told me and others about not taking one-year offer for Jones, but if Andruw accepted arbitration, Boras could simply say Andruw made the decision on his own, against Boras’ advice, because Andruw had such love for the Braves and a desire to come back for one more season with Atlanta in hopes of them reconsidering a long-term commitment to him in the future, etc., etc. But the Braves can hope a team signs him before Saturday, since that would have given Atlanta a sandwich pick between the first and second rounds, the only way they’ll get compensation for Jones without offering him arbitration. They wouldn’t get a first-round pick from the team that signed him before Saturday, because Jones is only a Class B free agent, not a Class A. (By the way, I know it sounds strange that the 2005 MVP runner-up, a player who hit 92 homers during the 2005-06 seasons and has 10 Gold Gloves, would slip from the Class A ranks, but the latest collective bargaining agreement had revisions to the system and reduced the Class A free agents from the top 30 percent to the top 20 percent. Only the last two seasons are considered for such ranking purposes, so anything Jones did before 2006 doesn’t factor into this matter). He then mentioned another good reason they didn't last night...... And there was one other thing about Andruw: He’s a 10-and-5 guy. If he wasn’t, the Braves could have offered him arbitration at much less risk, because if he’d accepted they could have traded him to San Diego or Los Angeles or another team interested in Andruw, and let that team work out a contract with him. As a 10-and-5 guy, Andruw could veto any trade the Braves tried to make if they’d offered him arbitration and he took them up on it. Again, not a good risk for a guy who’s only bringing back a sandwich-round draft pick as compensation if another team signs him. I know Andruw's numbers don't look that bad(what, 30 more RBI's than JD Drew?), trust me, he had the worse 26 Homer, 94 RBI season you could have. He hit .169 with runners in scoring position and 2 out. Hell, I could have done that! I think a lot of fans would have revolted if they had re-signed him. He didn't even look at film apparently....he kept talking about doing that in the offseason. You know what would be interesting? If he signed for one year with the Sox. Working with Manny in the batting cage, and watching Manny, Ortiz, and everyone else take, take, take...seeing if he could learn from that. Really, all the dude has ever done is get by on his skill alone. Baseball almost came too easy for him. Don't get me wrong, a very tough guy, never misses time, but seems to be from the Yogi Berra school of I can't think and hit at the same time.....

"The Sound of Jazz" restoration sample on YouTube
BERIGAN replied to jay2b2's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Jay2b2, 1st, thanks for posting this! I was really amazed at both the picture and sound, though I could only play it for 2:05 of the 9 minutes. Anyone else have that problem??? secondly, 4 posts in 2 + years??? Still a newbie???? Time to get cracking here! -
Good for you Peter! I hope when you go back, you don't think about the "wasted time" in Seattle. You gave it a shot, it didn't work. If you hadn't given it a chance, and the marriage ended, you might have been racked with guilt....and I bet you will appreciate Philly in ways you never did before!

Consumer advocate Clark Howard was a travel agent, and often talks about deals(And where to find them) on his show on Fridays. Anyway, his site has some links that may or may not be of use to you.... http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/category/10/
