This column on ESPN's website practically comes out and accuses Rogers of cheating at the start of the game, but while I am hardly a Rogers fan, I think the whole thing is ridiculously blown out of proportion. The fact is you'd have to be the stupidest moron on earth to "hide" your pine tar right on your hand! Pitchers have hidden pine tar in gloves, they hide their emory boards, they may put vaseline behind their ears or in the brim of the cap, they may rough up a ball with their belt buckle ... but no one puts a glob of pine tar in their bare hand, and anyone who suggests that he did ought to have their columnist/commentary license revoked. As much as I don't care for Rogers, he pitched a great game! Actually it's not that I don't like him, just worn out with the flopping around everytime a ball is called or he walks a guy; also said "God damn" about 30 times (caught on camera); loved it when he was coming unglued in the top of the 9th when Jones was trying to blow the game. Here is what Rogers looks like...... ! m~

LWayne, I did not get the set list for the 10:pm show as everyone was pretty much ushered out after the first show; the second was sold out (actually free to Hot House members). I thought about running over to the Showcase for the Holland late show but I had just seen him the night before in Indy so I took off for my hotel instead. My next trip to the Showcase will probably be 11/12 for Alexander/Mabern Quartet.... m~

like who? they had Seger (ugh) last night, and Anita Baker butchering the national anthem tonight. I wish they would just play the damn game earlier Anita Baker was no better than that chick that sang last night (american idol finalist).....she was HORRIBLE! Who ever programs the cheesy music they play during the games is pretty lame to....almost as lame as Tim McCarver....but not quite!

I was heartbroken after that game 7 defeat but what an amazing performace by Lolich....thanks for posting! m~

...and I have some news for you (buddy), I've probably been to most (90%) of the major league stadiums and most of the fans and their media bellieve they are the cat's meow;. This has nothing to do with the booing every time a ball is thrown to first.....just don't get it (don't get it when anyone does it, not just Met's fans). You say collectively....the mets have hardly be a contributor to the total....compare the mets and cards post season appearances if you want to make a comparison.....this is no comparison.. By the way buddy, didn't want to make this a pissing match between you and me (I really like you ) like a couple of the guys here , just didn't agree with what you were saying......I would have a short fuse had my team just been beat by the underdog. Just so you know, I can't stand it when the announcers talk about Pujols all the time either as it is far more than one player that contributes to any teams success.....!!!....and I do think Beltran is one of the best. m~

I saw him a few years ago at Baker's in Detroit, playing with McPherson, Louis Hayes and Fuller. The first night he played poorly, the second night much better....but nothing like his blue note days!

Rob, I thought the show was very good and agree with you that other than the pianist, not a lot of fire with the drummer/bassist.....keep in mind I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about .....I'm not really a reviewer but I really enjoyed the show. m~

....from his show this past Wednesday night in Chicago.

You don't appear to know what you're talking about. When he threw that pitch to Floyd for strike 3, he showed the Mets hitters he could get it over for strikes and so Beltran had to watch for it in the first two pitches of the AB. When he threw it, there was nothing he could do with it. It was just a perfect pitch. [/quote\\ Brad, I'd say when your down to your last strike and the little white ball is coming your way.........swing at it.....even defensively! I do agree it was a perfect pitch and not a better guy to leave standing at the plate. Not that I don't like Carlos.....but after listening to those fucking announcers talkng about him non-fucking-stop.....I thought I would go crazy. Mark~

Brad, Now I'm as big a fan of the Cards as you probably are the Mets....but I think you're taking it a little too far with the name calling and such. I agree the chanting is a bit cheesy but surely you don't believe other teams don't do the same thing (chanting, mocking) behind closed doors.....I was thinking the same thing about the ignorant mets fans every time they would boo when a cardinal pitcher threw a ball over to first base to keep a runner close....what the fuck is that all about??? Anyway, if I was a fan of the highly favored team that got beat, I would probably feel as shitty as you do now..... If it makes you feel any better, the Cardinals are not nearly as bad as their record would indicate with the many players out this year....they finally have thier starting line-up in and should be expected to compete a little better. m~

I guess I should just buy his enormous book. But it isn't so easy to hang on the wall... I tried, I now have wall repairs to do! -
Yep! Don't forget, Eckstein missed a fair number of games as well. Don't get me wrong the Tigers should sweep the Cards, but IF Weaver and Suppan pitch anywhere near as well in the W.S., they might just give the Tigers a challenge. I just hope so after reading Bill Simmons B.S. diary of game 7(Acting like it was going to be the worst game 7 ever) I hope that he talks some shit before the Series(Like how they should have a mercy rule in Baseball and end the series after 3 games) only to look like a fool. Don't get me wrong, he can be hysterically funny at times, but the AAAA thing is getting old. What's up with bitter Red Sox fans like him anyway? They won it all already! Don't have to get bitchy about every former Red Sox player on every team in the playoffs. They are as bad as Yankee fans these days(And White Sox fans would have become just as bad had they gotten in the playoffs this year) There are other teams in the league ya know! ...finally some one notices!

Cards win it !!!! Beltran had no idea what to do with that last pitch.....I think he's still standing there!!! Go Cards!!!

I have not been a fan of Pujols the personality since 2001, when my wife and I travelled to St Louis and saw two Cardinals games (they played the Giants). During BP of the Saturday evening game, we were down at the railing beside right field, along with at least 10-12 kids and some other adults, getting autographs from McGwire, LaRussa, and some of the relievers, when Albert walked by. All of the kids were screaming at him to come over and sign something for them, begging him to, and he just kept on strolling by, with a smirk on his face and not even a glance over at all of these kids. Just didnt seem like he gave a crap about these kids with that attitude. And this was when he was a rookie!! There were dozens, maybe hundreds of players I tried to get autographs from as a kid that didn't sign them....I don't think it makes them assholes or even bad people.....hey, wait a minute, maybe it's me...... m~

I've been a Cards fan my entire life and a Pujols fan since he came into the league...and probably go to 20-25 games per year....and have family that live in STL. I have never really know Pujols to be an asshole to the media but then again, I don't see the interviews with the media......like media do, the media is blowing it out of whack! m~
