  4. Now spinning: New York Jazz Quartet - Blues for Sarka (Enja/Inner City, 1978) with Frank Wess, Roland Hanna, George Mraz, Grady Tate ❤️ A favorite album by a great band. ❤️
  5. I love this version of RTF with Flora, Airto & Joe Farrell.
  6. Scenes [John Stowell, Jeff Johnson, John Bishop] - Silent Photographer (Origin, 2011)
  7. I can see that. Speaking of Thorgerson, I recently watched an excellent documentary about him & "Po" Powell, Squaring the Circle: The Story of Hipgnosis. Given your appreciation for album cover art, I bet you've already seen it. If not, it's well worth a look.
  8. CD compiles 2 LPs: Believe It (1975) and Million Dollar Legs (1976) with Allan Holdsworth (g), Alan Pasqua (kybd), and Tony Newton (b)
  9. Gordon Beck - Sunbird (JMS, 1979) with Allan Holdsworth (g), Jean-François Jenny-Clark (b), and Aldo Romano (d, perc)
  10. Listening to some 1970s fyoo-shun this afternoon: and
  11. Yes, I agree 100%. A fantastic album!
  12. Pat Martino - We'll Be Together Again (Muse, 1976) with Gil Goldstein
  13. @Dan Gould, these photos are FANTASTIC!!!
  14. This LP continues to be in heavy rotation at this listener's house: Lou Donaldson - Cosmos (Blue Note, 1971) George Butler produced this LP, but (aside from the voices) I think it sounds more like soul jazz that Bob Porter was producing for Prestige around that same time. The key sidemen on Cosmos are Porter regulars: Melvin Sparks, Leon Spencer, and Idris Muhammad. That (relatively) stripped-down, not over-produced "Bob Porter-like" soul jazz sound is one of the reasons I've been enjoying this LP so much.
  15. That looks very interesting. I'd love to hear your impressions after you've had a chance to absorb the music.
  16. That's great to hear!
  17. Norma Winstone - Edge of Time (Argo, 1972) 2012 Wah Wah Records (Barcelona, Spain) reissue I was surprised to see a US-based seller on Discogs offering this LP for a very reasonable price -- so I jumped on it. Last summer, I had a chance to visit Wah Wah Records in Barcelona and picked up their vinyl reissue of Neil Ardley's A Symphony of Amaranths. It was beautifully done, so I'm looking forward to hearing this Norma Winstone LP.
  18. Now spinning: Chick Corea - My Spanish Heart (Polydor, 1976, 2 LPs)
