  1. Yes! That! ^
  2. Yep. That's correct. Also, for those who prefer vinyl (and don't have the originals), Omnivore reissued the music in a 4-LP set ... in November on Record Store Day: https://omnivorerecordings.com/shop/promise-kept-lp/ It ain't cheap ($78.98), but the music is transcendent. BTW: If you've got the Complete Galaxy box, you've already got this stuff.
  3. Listening to this LP again: Art Pepper - New York Album (Galaxy, rel. 1985) with Hank Jones, Ron Carter, and Al Foster Recorded in 1979, this is "leftover" music from the John Snyder-produced So In Love sessions. Even though it was released posthumously, it's primo Pepper.
  4. Yep! And Sides C+D = Sax No End.
  5. Now spinning: LP sides C & D
  6. James Moody - Comin' on Strong (Argo, 1964)
  7. Next up: Sonny Rollins - Love at First Sight (Milestone, 1980) with George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Al Foster, and Bill Summers
  8. Now spinning: Caiman Super All-Stars - Super All-Star (Caiman, 1984) on translucent blue vinyl
  9. You'll get no argument from me on that. I think Satori is a masterpiece from start to finish.
  10. Me too. But this LP is my MOST favorite Konitz / Solal collaboration: One of my desert-island discs, for sure.
  11. Interesting. I've noticed that many (most?) listeners have STRONG reactions to Solal's music. Very positive or very negative. Like super-strong coffee. I suppose it's obvious that I think he's the bee's knees. It sounds like you might be one of the few in the middle -- with a "Konitz clause."
  12. Rab, Is that your reaction to Solal in general? Or is it just this particular LP? Just wondering.
  13. Martial Solal & Niels Henning Ørsted-Pedersen - Movability (MPS/PAUSA, rec. 1978) Such a wonderful record.
  14. Yes, mine's the CD version with some extra cuts. NP:
  15. Thanks for sharing your list, Mark. Lots of interesting stuff to explore there!
  16. Thanks for sharing your impressions, Dub! I've been meaning to investigate James Brandon Lewis. Will give that one a listen, for sure.
  17. Jeremy Steig & Eddie Gomez - Rainforest (CMP, 1980) Dmitry, It was reissued in 1997 on this two-fer CD:
  18. Yeah! One of Big George's best!
  19. Agreed on both counts. NP:
  20. Gheorghe, That Ricky Ford recording was made in 1981. It's good stuff. Nothing mind-blowing. But solid. Walrath is only on one cut. I think it would've been a more interesting LP if he'd played on more.
