I think you'll like it. It's a bit more "chilled" than some Patterson dates. But it's very enjoyable.

Yep. Terrific music that's never had a digital release. Pairing them up would make a great 2-fer CD. But that'll almost certainly never happen. The band assembled for those LPs is really exceptional. I think Billy Higgins is the not-so-secret sauce. But they all play fantastically well. Also, I love the choice to NOT include a pianist on the date and use Diorio's guitar instead as the chordal instrument, à la Sonny Rollins & Jim Hall. NP: Don Patterson - Why Not ... (Muse, 1978)

My oldest son is a musician and music-lover. So he's asked for my collection when I shuffle off this mortal coil. I have told him that I plan to cull it down at some point in the future. I don't plan to leave him my entire collection, only stuff that's special to me. There'd be too much. That said, I don't expect the collection down-sizing to start anytime soon. I'm 52 years old now, and I'm in relatively good health. Hopefully, I have a couple decades of new music discoveries ahead of me, knock wood!
