  1. Yep. And . . . to continue the morning's Albert Stinson theme . . . I think I'll play John Handy's New View next.
  2. Just stumbled across a quote and immediately thought of this thread: "Music is that which cannot be said but upon which it is impossible to be silent." -- anon., attributed to Victor Hugo
  3. I'd subscribe. Definitely.
  4. Very insightful stuff, imo.
  5. I just put a Chet Baker CD back on the shelf. Right next to Baker sits Billy Bang. So now this: That's really cool, Peter. I bet you heard some AMAZING music!
  6. If I'm not mistaken, Supraphon has reissued all of the music in this set. So that's an alternative way to hear it.
  7. A masterpiece.
  8. Yes, he plays wonderfully here.
  9. Me too! Yeah, it's a good one. But I think Beirach's many duo collaborations with Liebman are even better. For example, Forgotten Fantasies (A&M-Horizon, 1976) is one of my desert-island discs. Nobody ever seems to talk about it -- but I think it's stinkin' brilliant.
  10. The James Gang Gang Green Grant Green
  11. Now on my turntable: Mal Waldron Plays the Blues (Enja, rec. 1971) with Jimmy Woode & Pierre Favre Tremendous.
