  1. Yes otherwise you would end up not looking like the yobbo football holligan below Enjoy your holiday!
  2. hold yer horses Is it fixable....old stuff like receivers are usually easy to work on and it depends what has happened to it. Did a fuse blow inside? Sometimes these are the main problem (not inside the plug ) in the machine itself and if it is this will cost ...pennies to fix Blew mine 6 years ago when setting it up after a move....heard a noise and a wire in a glass tube had split...got some of the same wire for less than a $ and fixed it easy.... give it a go before this gets moved to the audio forum!
  3. wow an evening of blakey awaits and Jackie Mclean ......The Connection......oh goody goody goody...its Christmas .....oh and Clifford Brown Its Xmas here! Cheers Andy
  4. what an angel.......cheers
  5. Well....I was fairly new to this site .....shame there ain't more of the show though but I could not believe it was there. I remember seeing a video advertised years ago and never figured it was this one.....Sorry to repeat an old thread although always good to give a bit Grant Green new air!! They do have some lovely other vids too....one scorcher with Lonnie Smith and Ronnie Cuber Andy
  6. If this has been shown eslewhere or needs moving let me know but I was Sooooooooo excited
  7. Courtesy of Youtube.com..........apols if you have seen this before but it blew my mind just to actually see him play.....in colour WOW Part of a video with Barney kessel and Kenny Burrell perhaps
  8. ok no problem I downloaded it and then with winzip I extracted it to my desktop and opened with quicktime player. Hope that helps
  9. Its a video that I am playing now (watching Harold mabern hammer out the tune!)....thanks for this....a real find! Bertrand is right with it being from Soul! Have patience and it should work fine with quicktime Andy
  10. actually they were just giving you advice so as not to cause the board trouble with people asking for cdrs of availble cds. You are not the first person that they have reminded and I am sure that you will not be the last. It does seem however that you have 'issues' with a few people that perhaps you need to settle. Don't seem that hard to see to me. I am very gald that you have lots of lovely cds and bootlegs. Well done.
  11. yup and the inability of the dealers to accept tokens This is and was a common issue I guess These at the least were paying gigs and cash I suppose BUT what a gorgeous set it was!!
  12. hey lets go outside and settle this in the yard! chill dudes guy justs needs bringin in line or showing the door :bwallace2:
  13. Perhaps a question like Could anybody help me locate Grant Greens Carryin on ? may induce a little more support Oh yes and sort out your bad deals from the past or its no go
  14. I can support the recommendation. Early Records have been very good with me over the years and very reliable. As far as England goes..........(sharp intake of breath ) Manchester used to have Decoy records but they are I think gone now........Vinyl Experience .....good ish for 2nd hand.....King bee ( in Manchester) where I flogged loads of my old OJCs but years ago. Birmingham used to have a jazz shop .....cannot remember the name that did good japanese reissues but we are talking 10 years ago?? Soul Brother Records did mail order.....but a little pricy... Ebay wiped a few of em out as they were all a little pricey I thought Zweitausendeins (german mail order) did ojc lps but I might be worng.....(frequently am!) Go with the ones from True Blue or Fantasy direct....or concord whoever has em now Failing that.....its ebay As for Blue Notes......well.....that would be telling
  15. Hmmmmm Never looked at it that way before I must admit I bought the cd years ago when it first came out and loved it ever since. Thought it was a cracking set in all......Moontrane in particular.......maybe it because I liked bum A notes
  16. Bought it when it came out on cd in Japan and never listen to it that much but its not that bad either. However Blue Note has released a lot worse domestically so as for this one ....who knows.......best go and stick it on again for that extra scientific audit that I am famed for .......
  17. Yeh I missed this the first time around...dunno why.......just downloaded and its kickin.....and so is the other one (awakening).....also snagged a grachan moncur lp ......exploration.....sounds nice too! Three in one day on a free (re) trial
  18. Shame on us Penance shall be to listen to more John Patton
  19. oh my god .......had these two for years and never realised I need to get out less!
  20. People seem to be disappearing up their rear ends on this one. Whether you like it or not is up for debate without all the other clap trap pseudo re writes of Blue Note history. Not the greatest tune on Blue Note...what should be??...I do not care . All that I know for sure is when this tune comes on.........old Andy's foot starts tappin' Good enough for me any road. Infectious at its best in my opinion......and yes sure there are other much more lovely Morgan records but this one .........from the intro til the end has me after all these years --since I first heard it gets me movin'
  21. I think there are loads ....got the Ruppli thing which gave me loads of things to drool over Check the online guide though as its easier There are shed loads of Gene Ammons and Sonny Stitt things and all the groove holmes and jack mcduff stuff I think there would be a few years left at least of OJCs should they ever continue
  22. Quote from Ed As for Hill's chops, I've heard it all before. I knew a guy in Boston in the 60's who was associated with Berkley (Berklee? Berkeley?) and Herb Pomeroy who use to rant all the time about how Andrew Hill couldn't play the piano, had not chops, blah blah. Yessir ! Same as that other non starter when people said John Coltrane...could not play a decent tune an all that other bull Same with Ornette Same with Don Cherry Blah blah Rubbish 'I do not understand' does not equal that this is rubbish Save maybe Kenny G
  23. actually it sounds like complete rubbish ( I will use a clean word) if you ask me. No disrespect intended and all that. Surely an example of a going concern having gone. Nothing more. Better than some firms I am more than sure
  24. I personally do not think the evidence will stand up in court
