  1. Great to see you've made it back.
  2. Happy Birthday, Mark. I was afraid that I may have been late as I haven't been online for a couple of days, but I'm only the second poster. Arrright!!! BTW, how old are you? I don't see it mentioned on the main page.
  3. "Fast food places actually fight over me. Look what Burger King just gave me."
  4. "My goal is to go to school and get a degree, and I hope to move past the anti-tobacco model of the week and eventually qualify for the prestigious Organissimo Babes award."
  5. Hang in there, G.A. and Mike. We're staying put this year and my parents are up from Florida. Been staying up real late at night playing bridge and other games. I'm red-eyed as usual. Merry Xmas all!
  6. Thanks for the info, Wheel. I used to collect paper money, and have a lot of experience with the grading and so on, but I only collected Asian currencies. Seems to me that with inflation, we'll be seeing some of these higher bills in circulation down the road. Of course, they will probably reissue them in the modern style.
  7. How can it be for just $1000? I'm sure it would trade for higher than that owing to numismatic value. I see there's a "tear" in it, though I can't see it in the picture. High denomination bills will increase in numismatic value owing to scarcity.
  8. I also feel it worth mentioning that I appreciate Johnny's honesty and courage in sticking up for his beliefs and for invariably supporting the wrong cause and for believing all the false reports. Sorry friend, I can't resist a jab. I actually feel that you are honest and courageous in the support of your causes. I promise to bail you out next time you are jailed. -_-
  9. Needless to say, that must be a very rare bill, and I don't think it ever circulates outside of interbank transfers. Has anyone ever seen a $500 bill. Do they even exist? I think they do. Is it Benjamin Harrison? What is the largest bill anyone has ever seen? For me it's the $100. Nothing higher.
  10. Thanks for your nice comments, Johnny. I tease you a lot, but as mentioned before, I tend to tease people that I happen to like. If I don't feel comfortable with someone then I am obviously much more careful about what I may have to say. I happen to disagree with you quite a bit, but we often agree as well. I will never point out the latter. Can't let you get cocky in any way. But I do want you to know that you are really fucked up. No, really, I think you are someone with a very good heart and I would really miss you very much if you didn't post on this board. You're a good guy, Johnny. Now stop causing mischief. A holiday handshake to one of my favorite board members... :rsmile:
  11. I told Underground that I thought these two sessions are inferior to Big John's Blue Note output in his prime. They are quite a bit more mellow and definitely less fiery. However, I don't feel my tastes match Underground's at all. He likes some soul jazz that I don't particularly care for. So he should really judge these for himself. Doesn't hurt to get other opinions of course. I rate them at 3 stars. Even Big John past his prime is still superior to most other organists. I wouldn't quite call them essential, but they might be valuable to Big John Patton lovers. I also feel that Hubbard's playing verged on awful on "This One's For Ja." Conversely, I thought Zorn was a great addition on "Minor Swing."
  12. Count me as another big fan of "After Hours" and Groove Holmes in general. What amazes me most is the man's consistency. He was great from beginning to end. Check out some of his muse stuff as well to see that this great musician kicked all the way to the end. My particular Muse favorite is "All Day Long" Recommendations: Soul Message After Hours Hot Tat On Basie's Bandstand Legends of Acid Jazz (The Groover, and That Healin feeling) Misty Blue Groove (Soul Mist & Get up & Git It) All Day Long Slight disappointments: Broadway Groovin with Jug (Recording is bad)
  13. Good post, Chris. I can tell you guys all kinds of stories about "chess Dads/Moms." I encounter them at chess tournaments, but I'll save it for the chess thread if anyone is interested. I've got a son too, but I would never put him through any of that.
  14. Hmm, Patty's so front-end loaded, that she fears tipping over, and DEEP's got a hypertrophic "Johnson." Entertaining thread folks!
  15. Thanks Dan. Happy holidays to everyone and lets hope that Santa is a jazz fan!
  16. I like weird people. That's why I hang out here.
  17. Bill Belicheck of course!
  18. Anyone else watch this stuff? I find this competition to be fascinating. These kids are absolutely inspiring and bring tears to my eyes. They are brilliant kids. Makes you feel proud to be human. I love the way the grit it out and refuse to miss the word. It reminds me of any other sport or even competitive chess. The same will to win is there. It's on ESPN 2 right now.
  19. where ya been, knife??
  20. I agree Eric. Boy, I'm afraid of Indy though. They can put points on the board so fast. Fortunately, their defense is average. I'd feel pretty good if Foxboro is full of snow when they come into town.
  21. If this news is true then it's not very good. Thinking back, we wonder about how many games Dante Hall saved for the Chiefs over this season. He certainly won the first Denver game and also the game against the Steelers early in the season. Combine that with a weak schedule and we see perhaps an 8-6 or 9-5 team at best. They're better than average for sure, but they are not an elite team. It's being proven right now. Give them another year and things could change dramatically. A year in the NFL makes all the dilfference in the world.
  22. I'm not sure I understood B-3ers explanation, though everyone agrees it was the definitive conclusion. Maybe the center has to be round so that a belt can spin it. Belts can't spin star- or square-shaped centers. Fingers are round and therefore, have terrific rotational dynamics when it comes to mining boogers. That's an easier one to explain.
  23. Gotta agree with you fellahs in Kansas City. The Chiefs look terrible. Vermeil is a great coach, but maybe he has spread too much love around the team. They need a good buttkicking. They built their winning record against a weak schedule. I think they are another year away from being a really good team. Pats look tough as nails. Indy is a monster on offense. Those are the two best AFC teams. I don't think anyone else comes close.
  24. I'm afraid it is so; though rumour has it that he has shed some coin over Patterson, "Dem NY Dues."
  25. I never tire of the "grand entrance" Don Patterson makes with his organ when he comes in on "Who Can I turn to?" Very powerful and beautiful. THAT in a nutshell is why I love jazz organ. (Weizy, take note! )
