Happy Birthday 7/4 and may Bush still be in office when you're due your next one. -
Happy Birthday Patricia!

Happy Birthday Patty!! Get a good book, good wine, hopefully some material on early jazz with players sporting odd nicknames. Tip the glass a little to all of us. We love you over here! -
I played it once and liked it. The problem was that it arrived with all kinds of other music and I haven't had the time to give them all more than one hearing. Gotta catch up with my collection.

Another workout.

Don't worry RR, not too many people apparently share my politics. -
Why is this so important, Couw? I never look at other commentary before giving my impressions. Takes all the fun away. I don't think I've guessed a single track from the two/three blindfold discs I've heard. Man, if I recognize something, I'll be so overjoyed and full of myself that I would just shout out the title!! Nah, I'll just sit on it like you request. Buy why?

Not exactly one of my favorite Mobleys either. -
How long has the BNBB been closed?

Inspired by Ed, I wrote a glowing nonsensical review as well, but decided against sending it. Why? I guess, I'm afraid it could ruin things for everyone else in some way. Also, I suppose I don't wish to make fun of the lady. She is an artist after all. No one needs that. I still like Ed's review however. One spoof makes the point; many spoofs only generate anger. -

emailed ya. -
The grin is because I love this tune. And Organissimo is even working on adding it to their repertoire upon my request. This session is included in "Blue Groove."

Check out Clint's avatar, Patty.

Happy Birthday Clint and also to the guy in the iron suit.

I laugh on your shirt-front, Chuck. Anyone can play, as far as I know, admittedly, not having reviewed the guidelines, surely set out by our thread-originator. Sounds like some kind of proposal to me, Chuck.

Patty is correct. Got it DEEPSTER?

The Pete Rose Korner

That would be great! Let's post his baseball stats in the HOF, but he and his family have to pay admission in order to see them. That would teach him... -

That's fair enough then, Paul. Unfortunately, I cannot say more because I don't know anything about Mr. Landis. -

most players and the public didn't want black players in the Majors either. racism was alive and well then, (still is) in America. he didn't bet on baseball. My point was that racism (and those who enforced it) should not be a part of the Hall of Fame. The Black players from the Negro Leagues who are in the Hall of Fame are there in spite of Kenesaw Mountain Landis. Just because Kenesaw Mountain Landis never bet on baseball doen't make him worthy of being a member of the Hall of Fame. He and Rose are both dirtbags, but you can make the argument (I made it sacastically, if you read my entire post) that if one was admitted, so should the other. I don't know anything about the players/coaches you mention here, Paul, but I normally have an issue about judging people in history by today's moral standards. This is not meant to justify past deeds, but some leeway has to be given as a result of the prevailing zeitgeist. Not everyone was a moral visionary. Some were downright reactionary, but it is just too easy to condemn historical figures based on today's morality. It's an easy trap to fall into. Let's be fair about this. -

I've tried to adopt this practice at my chess tournaments--so far with little success.

On the topic of NFL coaches: Two of Bill Belichick's assistants on the New England Patriots have been doing the round of coach interviews from some of the teams looking for a new head coach. Charlie Weis is our offensive coordinator and Romeo Crennel is our defensive coordinator. I would personally love to see Weis hit the road, but would sorely miss Crennel. Crennel is black and I fear that this might encourage all kinds of job interviews. I mean, it would be great for Romeo to have the opportunity to become a head coach, but for selfish reasons I want him to stay. He's damned good. Weis has been credited with developing Tom Brady as well as working with a team of young receivers. He does deserve credit for what he had done on that score, but the guy can't call a play worth a damn. He's the worst play caller that I can remember since Pete Carroll was our head coach. His disdain for the running attack drives me bonkers. Would someone please hire this guy and take him off our hands??

No question about it: betting holds its own rules as far as the HOF is concerned. Pete Rose should never be allowed in for betting on baseball. Human have their foibles and weaknesses: they drink, do drugs, commit crimes. Still, as far as the HOF is concerned, that's a different category than betting. Betting is the big NO-NO. Pete Rose should never be allowed in no matter what he does or says from here on out.
