Just curious...

Terrific price on that Hubbard, "Minor Mishap." I paid an ungodly $20+ for mine.

If only DEEP would contribute to the Politics Forum...

The Pete Rose Korner
connoisseur series500 replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
What do others think? Does Pete deserve to be in the Hall of Fame even though he bet on baseball? Should his baseball prowess solely determine eligibility, or should his betting be factored in? I guess I lean towards keeping him from the HOF. Betting in sports is a big no-no for active athletes. Poor guy, but he did it to himself. Hard to believe that moron was such an outstanding hitter, but he certainly was. -
AOTW 12/29-01/03 BRILLIANT CORNERS
connoisseur series500 replied to Gary's topic in Album Of The Week
Interesting story, Chuck. As a non-musician, it's hard for me to comprehend how difficult or otherwise it might be to play the music on "Brilliant Corners." Think I'll go and give it another spin... -
True enough, Patty, but DEEP has extra tolerance for members of the FAIR SEX. Yeah, Dan, I guess you should have started your own thread there. We have to be quiet so DEEP can HIBERNATE through his dry season. (I love using those CAP LETTERS in DEEP fashion. Should have patented that one DEEP!) Remember, DEEP: HOT TEA (with a dab of milk like the English do!)

NASA Rover Touches Down on Mars
connoisseur series500 replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
There was a magnificent color photograph in the Smithsonian magazine a couple months ago taken by the 1997 pod. Mars didn't look like much. Needs women all right, plus a lot of other things. I'm staying put for now. -_- -
Favorite Orbitz Game?
connoisseur series500 replied to Matthew's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
The mini golf is fun, but my alltime favorite one came out at Halloween where you could throw snoballs at ghouls appearing behind tombstones or at witches flying by. You had to time the throw a bit and toss in front of the flying witches. Man, that was fun! -
DEEP, Do you feel like a bear who cannot hibernate cause there's a big party going on in your cave? I bet you wish you could hibernate too cause you've started your dry season. Stick with it, man, and don't ever underestimate the sobering properties of hot tea. Remember, with a dab of milk in it like the English do. That nation of people were all calmly drinking tea while the Luftwaffe bombs were dropping.. It will help you to GET THROUGH ANYTHING.

I gotta put my two cents in here. I must politely disagree with some of Patty's comments, for the incident with Dan pretty much highlights all that is wrong with Mike's board. First of all, Patty, one thing I like about Dan is his passion and emotion. I tend to be emotionally-restrained on boards myself, but for Dan to do so would be dishonest and a violation of his personality. Dan: stay the way you are. Mike has always appeared as "nice" to me, but he has no right interrupting threads and directing them like a traffic cop. Well, he may have the right, but that's intrusive shit to me; and I aint posting in those kinds of boards. I much prefer Jim A's attitude here: it's his board and he has the right to come down on people, but his is extremely tolerant and doesn't try to direct threads like Mike did there. Allow people to be themselves. If they end up annoying everyone then they are skating on thin ice and can end up being banned like GregM was. For God's sake, allow people to be themselves. Jim A. does. Mike Ricci, apparently has more difficulty doing that. Mike jumps in to interrupt the interesting discussion between Kevin B and Chris A. I was learning all kinds of stuff in that exchange. It was a fascinating if contentious discussion. Ricci steps in for what?? I don't need that kind of crap. Kudos to you, Dan. Keep on TRUCKING!!

Great victory for the Titans. I thought they outplayed the Ravens and the game was close only because of the interceptions. Eddie George played a courageous game. McNair looks shaky, but they've always got an eager O'Donnell waiting in the wings. Still don't know the next opponent for the Titans just yet.
-
Early in the game and Tennesse is making me look stupid. They are easily handling Baltimore right now. The Raven kick returner had a nice gain, which perhaps reminds us that the Titans are a little shaky on special teams. Baltimore's gotta take advantage of that area if they are to have a chance in this game. Right now, it's 7-0.

It was a book I read in high school. Admittedly, it's challenging for a high schooler, but it was assigned reading at the time. Now it's probably Harry Potter in the high schools.

Sobering thought: if I read one book per week, I would not live long enough to finish my own personal library of 3000 hardback books (averaging 300-400 pages each.) Nevermind being able to read all the good books; I can't even finish my own library. DEEP: you've just entered the SAHARA. The next OASIS is 6 months away. You can do it!!!

That quote was taken from the book. I like the film too, but it stole...er borrowed so much from Conrad's book that I felt the film was a bit compromised as a result. I mean the idea was terrific. The filmmaker should have covered his tracks a little better. Advice for Patty: I would love to talk books with you, but I doubt that DEEP wants BOOK CHATTER on his thread. Just a HUNCH...

McNair even got some practice time in. And O'Donnell can win games as well. Okay Jim, as mentioned my pick is more wishful thinking than anything else. I just left espn.com and all seven experts are picking the Titans to win the game. My prediction doesn't mean squat. We all know who the favorite is. Still sticking with the Ravens though, cause I'm STUBBORN!!

Wasn't that same character in "Apocolypse Now" talking about the courage involved in amputating their childrens' arms and stacking them to signify that they would not become slaves of the enemy???

I keep swinging back and forth on this one. I'm going with the Ravens in the hardest to pick matchup in the first round. The Ravens seem to have no fear against Tennessee. I can definitely see Tennessee winning as well since Baltimore QB Wright has little experience and has shown little ability in some of the games. As one columnist on espn.com stated, why did Ravens coach Brian Billick care about Jamal Lewis setting the single season rushing record when the Steelers were stacking the line? He put on all kinds of extra miles on his star running back heading into the playoffs. That decision could haunt them in the playoffs. My selection could also be wishful thinking as I hope that the Patriots end up playing Baltimore. The Pats can limit Jamal Lewis and then have a field day whenever Wright is forced to throw. I see Tennessee posing more problems for them than Baltimore and Brian "Big Bertha" Billick!
