  1. Well, Dan, the only thing I can request from you is that you be open to whichever town/city that wins out (and that includes Lansing!) For my part, I will also be open and will attempt to meet wherever the majority wants. In the meantime, you started the poll, and you see the results. St. Louis has apparently been defeated. If you didn't want to go by majority, then you shouldn't have started the poll. St. Louis is now out of the picture. It's now Lansing or Chicago.
  2. Not a lock to this Patriot fan, SS. We will win the game, but we tend not to win by much. Jags will beat the spread. I have no upset picks this week. Enjoy your football everybody!
  3. Happy Birthday, Jimbo!! Always enjoy your levelheaded posts.
  4. Carrying over a joke from another thread. I don't own a gun, Patty, and wouldn't know how to shoot one. Well, I guess i could figure it out, but my aim wouldn't be very good and I'd be afraid of the loud bang.
  5. I see no reason to rush things, Dan, so I go along with that. I don't particularly want to go to a Jazz festival as I'll be bringing my family and have to spend time with them. If we go see Oranissimo at a nightclub then that's fine. It's an evening and that's fine. I would want to revisit the Chicago Art Institute. The problem with big cities is that there are a lot of other distractions, and the agenda would become full of other activities. The "get together" concept would not be served. We'd all get together for a couple of hours then all disappear to see other things in the city. This is a get together for board members, not a group tour. That's my opinion anyway. Now that St. Louis has been eliminated, you embrace another city. Your opposition to Lansing is palpable, my friend.
  6. Well I had to live up to my Organissimo avatar! Just played my first chess tournament in three months. It was a quadrangle tournament, which means that we were placed in 4-man sections, and it's all-play-all. I was placed in the top section according to my rating and was second seed. The third seeded player was only 10 rating points below me, so it was a good even quad. I cleaned everyone up for a 3-0, first place score, and I FEEL GOOD right now!! My USCF rating has moved up to 2012 so I am now an official USCF "Expert." (2000+). I went to the USCF ratings calculator and plugged in my results to get my rating. My performance rating was 2436(!) which is pretty meaningless. Gotta go over my games tomorrow when I'm relaxed and fresh. I think I played really well, but won't know for sure until I analyze tomorrow. Was worried about rust, but I studied pretty good over the last two weeks practicing calculations. It paid off! Ah. life is good right now!
  7. Been away all day. Welcome Selim! I like your list of jazz favorites.
  8. Well we'd have to have a private concert for y'all because we do not get any gigs in Lansing. We play in Grand Radpis (1 hr. west of Lansing), Ann Arbor (1 hr. east of Lansing), Holland (1 1/2 hrs. from Lansing) etc. But no gigs in Lansing. Lansing is dull. Great place to raise kids (nothing happens)... not a good place for artists. A private concert would be terrific in Lansing, Jim. At Joe's place of course (with guns! )
  9. AND we're so poll-rules-abiding that everyone who voted [including me, for Lansing] only voted once. As for St Louis being more likely, because it's bigger, we can only take up so much space, no matter where it is. Errr, Patty, the board software only allows us to vote once. I would have voted a dozen times for Lansing if I could get away with it. If you can still vote on your screen, then YOU HAVEN'T VOTED YET, Patty!!
  10. This is getting a bit repetitive but: Great picture, Vibes. Terrific looking couple.
  11. BTW, the vote totals so far is an amazing tie!! Although I voted for Lansing, I really thought St. Louis would run away with it given it's a bigger city. I guess all the Organissimos voted for Lansing which helped.
  12. Dan, I would love to have some of our international boardmembers show up, but the truth is that they likely won't. In fact, we are unlikely to get many East or West coast members to show up as well. Pushing St. Louis as the venue on that basis is quite silly. Neither place would likely attract people from far away. And no matter how great Euclid Records might be, it won't be very great if we get 25 avid jazz collectors buying out the place in one weekend. My vote is for Lansing and we get to hear Organissimo play.
  13. Great looking family, Med.
  14. Appreciate it, David. Darn fine idea too. Get this guys: this is Sunday's television lineup here in Toledo. 1:00 Detroit at KC 1:00 Green Bay at San Diego 4:15 Cleveland at Denver I'll be heading to the billiard hall in order to watch some real games. This is the kind of shit we've got to put up with every Sunday. The people in charge of programming need to take a mandatory course on the NFL. I definitely approve of two Monday games, because Sunday we never see anything around here.
  15. Great pic, Lon. All I need now is a telescope.
  16. Soooo, with that stated...would you vote for THE REVEREND JESSE JACKSON over BUSH if he were a contender?? DEEP May I suggest that Sir Deepness bring these topics up under the "Politics" forum?
  17. Here's someone I forgot to mention in my opening post: Reuben Wilson. I don't think he's got a large body of oevre, but "Love Bug" is about as good as a groovin organ session can get. "Blue Mode" is also very good.
  18. Our family tears into the presents like wolves into a Moose carcass (er, sorry Moose).
  19. Everybody had a crush on her, Jim.
  20. Summer is probably best; and I'd say it should be mandatory if St. Louis is selected because of the convention and everything.
  21. I just voted for Lansing. Couldn't resist given my location. I am able to house someone as well if Lansing is selected. If St. Louis wins out then I can probably make it there. Problem is that I'd be checking out the art museum and other places instead of hanging out with boardmembers all weekend. Too many distractions over there.
  22. Okay Scott, On the way to you via special delivery: 5,000 copies of Norah Jones!!
