Perhaps the clerk who priced the box set didn't inspect the Mosaic box set carefully. Probably assumed there were 5 double CD jewel cases. A total of 10 discs, therefore 10@$8 = $80. Ebay? $300 - $400 Hmm... my set contains 6 jewel cases: 4 with 4 discs each, and 2 singles (in their own thinner box that also contains the booklet). At any rate, a great deal. Not as good as mine, though. I bought a used set (mint) from a local store in 1994... $40. Highway robbery. To this day I have no idea what they were thinking (6 X 7 = 42... round down?). I bought a few other sets from them around the same time, also good deals, but nowhere near as good as that. Well, maybe they thought the 4 quad jewel cases were doubles, so 4x2 +1 +1 = 10? $40 - Another theory: They inspected the first box that had 2 single jewel cases and assumed the 2nd box also had 2 single jewel cases. Total 4 CDs @ $10 = $40. Nat King Cole for $40? Maybe they thought MOSAIC was an offbeat cheap re-issue label. (it's black and white, with no color photos or printing)

Capitol Boxes Up Early Beatles Albums photo The Beatles' first four U.S. albums -- "Meet the Beatles," "The Beatles Second Album," "Something New" and "Beatles '65" -- will be bundled together in the boxed set "The Capitol Albums Volume 1," due Nov. 16. All were originally released in 1964 as Beatlemania swept the United States. "In the '60s, American record labels often chose to reformat British records to suit the needs of the U.S. market," says Capitol president Andy Slater. "In America, singles were generally included on current albums, where in the U.K. albums and singles were most often separate releases. Higher music publishing costs in the U.S. also made it impractical to include as many songs on American albums. In addition, in the case of the Beatles, some of the recordings on the American albums were given more echo than the British versions, to 'Americanize' their sound." The albums, which have been remastered from the original tapes, include stereo and mono versions of each song. Each album is housed in a miniature replica of its original album cover, while the box will feature a 48-page booklet chronicling the Beatles' unprecedented 1964. "Meet the Beatles" (originally issued Jan. 20, 1964, in the United States) begins with what was at the time the group's latest single, "I Want To Hold Your Hand," and its U.S. and U.K. B-sides, "I Saw Her Standing There" and "This Boy." The bulk of the remaining tracks were taken from the U.K. version of the album "With the Beatles." "The Beatles Second Album" (April 10, 1964) is a grabbag of such tracks as the "She Loves You" single and its B-side "I'll Get You," additional songs from "With the Beatles," cuts from the "Long Tall Sally" EP and a German version of "I Want To Hold Your Hand." "Something New" (July 20, 1964) includes eight songs from the soundtrack to the Beatles' first film, "A Hard Day's Night," although not the title track or "Can't Buy Me Love." The album was denied the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top LPs chart by the movie's proper soundtrack, issued by United Artists. I'm interested in the others. I'll keep my eye open for Perry Robinson and Bobby Gordon CD/LPs.

What for?

I turned the game off, since Seattle was winning and the Rams looked lame. Saw 2 interceptions. Couldn't believe the news, when I heard the Rams won in OT. Just like when I turned off the Yankee game, when they were down 5-1. Then hear they won 6-5 over the Twins. Miami has no offense. Once you lose your running game, the QB is under pressure. Not sure they can win a game this year.

It's funny, even though it looked like Atlanta had no pitching this year, supposedly they had the best team ERA in the NL. Just barely beat out ST LOUIS. (by 1 run) St Louis and Atlanta had excellent records, but Houston was HOT HOT HOT at the end of the season. In a short series, Houston may be able to take Atlanta, but Atlanta had a great season considering Lopez and Sheffield both left. I'd love to see Houston play St Louis, but I think it should be Atlanta and St Louis. And what's with the Yankees???? Another come from behind win! They led the majors this year in come-from-behind wins. Can't blame Santana.

Amazing, Ortiz was on 1st with 2 outs in the 9th and the TV commentators were wondering why the manager didn't replace him with Roberts (faster runner).
