  4. Jefferson Airplane: Surrealistic Pillow. Okay, this one's as good as I remember! I don't think I've listened to the entire thing since 1977...
  5. Okay, that was cool, particularly The Red Telephone, but I don't feel like I missed out on the greatest album in the world or anything... Now: Blue Oyster Cult: Tyrannies & Mutations You know, I remember thinking back in the seventies that, as good as Agents of Fortune was, Blue Oyster Cult had compromised and lost something essential in their music. Listening to this now, my opinion has been slightly revised to "they were a second-tier band who hit it big thanks to sympathetic production". They just aren't as good as I remember.

  8. Judging by those poll results, most people view themselves as being either moderate or liberal. You misrepresent the results by saying the poll indicates people are conservative. My god, that's a silly response. A larger majority describe themselves as being moderate or conservative. You're misrepresenting the results to a far greater degree than GA Russell. Of course, I think the idea that the press is liberal is pretty whack in itself (the press is pro-status quo, no matter what that status quo is), so I guess it evens out. Hey, it's difficult to mourn an ass pimple...

  13. Excellent point, and one I must admit never occurred to me. You can't really reread a book thirty years later; the person who read it the first time no longer exists.
  14. Hmm. I like Clancy simply because she plays stuff I haven't heard. Kines, Berzon, and Sanchez always seem to play stuff I'm already familiar with. Not necessarily a bad thing; someone has to play Time Out, but I've heard it enough. Buxton I consider overrated, though even overrated he's pretty damned good, and Berman I like, for the same reasons you mention. Conte, as you say, is okay, though a little goes a long way with me. However, in all honesty, I have to admit that I haven't listened to KCSM all that much since I left the Bay Area. Radio has become a "forgotten media" for me, I'm afraid.

  17. Have you ever tried setting up at one of those New Age craft fairs? I'll bet that crowd would eat that stuff up. If you really wanted to maximize sales at one of those, dress up like Sun Ra!

  20. Well, whoever anyone was pulling for, at least Washington wasn't involved. I realized I had officially crossed over into the realm of the official Old Fart when I noticed how much Ovechkin bugged me!
  21. I assumed that the Wings had it in the bag once they made it to the finals. Maybe the players did as well.
