I think the main reason Americans in general don't take in their parents like some cultures is just our mobility. In the past, families stayed in one area, and extended families in one town was the norm. Now, families are scattered all over the country. It certainly makes it a lot more difficult.

Hey, there's no need to buy crap these days, so all those albums with one or two good songs that used to end up on my shelves just don't leave the store any more. Plus it's easier than ever to "try before you buy". I have this fantasy that we will all live to see the death of the manufactured 'musician' due to this, but of course the key word is fantasy...

That was my reaction to the story...they've got to be kidding. As for the performance, I kind of had this "well, it's nice that someone is trying, but..." feeling. Kind of like me diving. It's nice to see the attempt, but hoo boy...
