Didn't even know about the La Boheme effort. I'd like to hear it. What Burrell does with West Side Story is pretty engaging. Heck, I'd listen to Burrell play cop show themes. And, yes, I wish another round of BYGs could come out, too. Probably will happen at some point. For now, the Thurston Moore-approved box will do.

Fine words from Mr. Tapscott. I'm in full agreement. Lon — oops, you're right. Maybe I'll end up selling my original Lighthouse cds now ... I haven't even opened the Lighthouse part of the Mosaic. I just blindly assumed the whole thing was McMastered, and focused in on the other parts. And those "other parts" have taken up my attention for some time now! Oh yes — I just want to say that Jan Hammer's tune called "Lungs" on the Mosaic ... I love that track. Hammer can play when he wants to.

The "Happy Birthday" track can easily be skipped. Terrible "singing." The plus to the original Lighthouse cd issues (which are "complete"), however, is that Malcolm Addey did the transfers/remastering. I dunno, I think the Elvin set is a must-have. I doubt Blue Note will re-reissue much of it as time goes along. Cuscuna's been on record more than once stating that Elvin just doesn't sell. Perhaps The Ultimate or Coalition could make it to a Connoisseur batch some time, but even that seems unlikely. I think it's one of those situations where, after you physically have the set, you feel great relief — you have it! Waitaminnut ... I thought this set was already OOP ...

This isn't going to be very helpful, but there's a copy of West 42nd Street here. I've always liked this one a little more than Bartz's other Candid. But the Dameron covers on Neighborhood make it worth hearing.

This one remains my favorite Norvo. The Classics label is always enjoyable (if not always sonically up to par with Hep, Frog, etc.), and this disc has Betty Boop on it — literally!

Nope. Not to the best of my knowlege. It was reissued recently on LP, though. Same for Kenneth Terroade's BYG session. Too bad those couldn't have also seen CD reissue.

Is the Fortune box set on CDBaby a simple repackaging of the Blue Note material — meaning, actual Blue Note cds in a slipcase, or is it an altogether different format? Listened to some sound samples, and while I'm not exactly keen on Fortune's Monk reworkings, I like the other material.
