  1. I went through that twice last year...I came home and started calculating how much equipment to sell to buy a new guitar - and then didn't do it!
  2. I really like Stravinsky, but that's not a very good piece by him (ebony concerto). I loved his haircut: I mean the way it was real thin, and the way he combed it with a thick-tooth comb. - Capt. Beefheart
  3. Tell us about it. I've stayed out of stores this year...I don't have any money to spend, plus I have plenty of guitars to play here. .
  4. Yes, like this:
  5. Betch ya they're Mormons. The Osmond Five of the classical piano world. I was more interested in the five piano arrangement of the Firebird. There are a lot of piano reductions of Stravinsky's music, mostly by the composer. Arrangements for two pianos are common, but five is unusual. It must sound pretty nice to be in a room and hear a performance... ditto.
  6. The 5 Browns playing on 5 Steinway pianos on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
  7. I liked it. I like the entire Creative Orchestra Music album, and "the march" is great. I almost said "shocking", but, this is Braxton, so nothing is unexpected. Now tell us how you feel about For Four Orchestras (aka Composition/Opus 82).
  8. for four orchestras (1978) I'm listening now... edit: I think I'll have to listen a few more times, I never was a big fan of this piece.
  9. Karl Berger was on WKCR's Out to Lunch this afternoon. .
  10. I was going to mention Massacre, I love that album. That's the band with Bill Laswell on 1/2 of Speechless. The Fred Records/ReR Megacorp (UK), ReR/FRO 10 version is the one to get, with extra cuts and some of the original ones re-mastered. A great album - I was looking for my copy, but I can't find it. I know it's here somewhere, I'd really like to hear it again! Extensive Frith discography -> here. Thanks fer upping this thread!
  11. Wow. There's a couple of names I didn't associate with the studio. .
  12. Sounds good to be...I'd like to hear those archives, particularly Braxton and Holland from that era. (hoo hoo!)
  13. That's when Couw stopped posting. .
  14. WKCR's Morning Classical is was conducting a phone interview with Crumb this morning. I'm listening and I'm always impressed by his use of color/texture and use extended techniques for instruments. vol 12:
  15. Me2. :rsly:
  16. It's essential. I probably wrote about it in another thread.
  17. Get there early, it's tiny.
  18. Be sure to check the cover dates on the weekly's. Sometimes the copies on the newstand at the airport aren't current. Enjoy yerself Aggie!
  19. The loudest of all keys. to clarify...all of Ted's tunes are in the key of A. (or used to be).
  20. Every song is in the key of A. .
  21. Ahem... I already have it on vinyl. Like I wrote, I haven't heard it in a zillion years.
  22. I need a copy on CD, I haven't heard it in a zillion years.
