  1. Me too. Last fall, I bought Three for Shepp, the Gesprachsfetzen/ In Sommerhausen, and Mary Ann/Bremen 1969 sets. As if the ESP/Polydor records weren't good enough...wow, it gets better! Sounds great, so I can't tell you if it's needle drop or not; but it sounds pretty fine to these ears.
  2. Wasn't he Paul Chamber's cousin? Own Soulnik, and have no excuse not owning this one.
  3. More Haydn: Symphonies, Nos. 82, 83, & 84, under the direction of Sigiswald Kuijken, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Virgin Classics, 1989.
  4. Thank you Sir Richard Branson for Virgin Classics (and Virgin Venture). Truly, in my honest opinion, the best classical label there ever was. So, listening to Haydn myself: Cello Concertos under the direction of Iona Brown, featuring Truls Mork, Virgin Classics, 1991. Earlier, Haydn, Sonatas Nos. 33, 38, 58 & 60. Emanuel Ax. CBS Records Masterworks, 1988. One of my favorite classical pianists, alongside Glenn Gould and Jean-Bernard Pommier.
  5. Can't escape it. Every time I see this album sleeve, reminds me of this sleeve:
  6. Love the Breeders and a huge Pixies fan. Does this record have either vibe?
  7. Rahsaan Roland Kirk-Blacknuss-Atlantic/Rhino
  8. Total RUSH fan. Saw them as a teenager in the 80's and was thrilled when they played the first half of 2112, then saw them again as an adult, playing their best from their entire catalogue chronologically. RIP Neil Peart! My favorite rock drummer of all time, who learned to re-drum (like this dude needed to) under the influence of Buddy Rich. Amazing person (watched an interview, dude's very articulate and intellectually deep) amazing band! Now playing The Police-Synchronicity-A&M. Awesome how Herb Alpert saw the importance of this band...another band I was so fortunate to see live too. They opened with "Message in a Bottle"!
  9. So far this morning/afternoon: Chet Baker-It Could Happen to You-Riverside/K2 20 Bit John Coltrane-Coltrane Plays The Blues-Atlantic/Rhino Marion Brown-Three For Shepp-Impulse! Now: McCoy Tyner-Time For Tyner-BN RVG
  10. Been digging deep in CP lately. Right now: playing, Three for Shepp-Marion Brown-Impulse!
  11. Wow. Not aware of this! Now playing: McCoy-Time for Tyner-BN RVG Really enjoying these early Lee Morgan records, largely because of the RVG program back in the day.
  12. Every Dexter BN is awesome in my opinion, and that includes The Squirrel and Clubhouse. Great stuff. Now playing: McCoy Tyner/Joe Henderson-Forces of Nature-BN
  13. Awful. I've met John Clayton at the airport once (he was wheeling his double bass) what a nice gentleman. So, so sad to hear what's going on there, I'm going to donate money to this tragic cause.
  14. LOVE Chet, but wow, blown away with this story. Just another fucked upped dude on the street. Its painful to hear that, wow, thanks for sharing.
  15. Pim, no way I'm condoning this behavior; I lost a good friend, from this BS, I am not glorifying this way of behaving; Chet was doomed ( he had no real friends but fellow junkies) A close friend of mine, lived this life (he was a rocker) but he couldn't quite live the life style. He drank too hard, and punished his wife (with drinking only, she went on and remarried) It's real and it sucks. Chet blew everything. He had it all, but blew everything. Sad.
  16. Easy, he doped, to deal with the down time, yet got girls and fame in the meantime. I do not have the book handy, but it has been researched.
  17. Love Chet, dude lived the life, and made amazing music along the way. Side note: Has anyone seen Chet live?
  18. Agree. Can listen to Chet any time. Love this dude from the start to the end. Proposed to my now wife, with "It Could Only Happen to You: Do it the Hard Way."
  19. Agree. To me, this is "aggressive" hard bob. Still dig it. Weirdly, wish Kenny Dorham was there....
  20. Bob Brookmeyer and Friends-Columbia/Legacy-1964
  21. Start the morning with Run DMC then Kenny Burrell, Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas, Argo 1966.
  22. Being a huge Velvet Underground and Lou Reed fan, Walk on the Wild Side, that base line, and it may came from somewhere else (I don't care) is the best.
  23. Nope! Christmas gift today. Love it!!! No probs with the bass. So Coltranish, so much like In 'n' Out type 64'ish. Joe Henderson is pretty out there for Joe Henderson.
  24. Sorry if I'm posting stuff already posted, but wow what a cool clip:
  25. If not posted, over 30 mins of that 1966 Berlin concert. Wow!!!! What, we only got to see a minute of this concert in that AA doc 20 years ago or so? Answer is yes 😐
