  3. RIP Fay Vincent This says it shortly and succinctly: https://www.lonestarball.com/2025/2/2/24357332/former-mlb-commissioner-fay-vincent-has-died
  4. Have you heard the sublingual whispers that the Hunts are contemplating using the "ok, KC. fine then, you don't build us a new stadium, we'll just move our Chiefs back to Dallas" tactic? The mind boggles...
  5. Miriam Adelson has begun flooding my streaming channels with "aw shucks, it's wholesome and it will go to the schools and besides, it's evil to not have it!!!" ads for "destination resorts" aka casinos. That's said to gave been her motivation in buying the Mavs, to build a "destination resorts" for the Mavs to call home. I've had wildly mixed feelings about Mark Cuban over the decades, but I have zero ambiguity about Miriam Adelson.
  6. I've found the Moserobie label to be pretty consistently fine: https://moserobie.bandcamp.com/
  7. The only way that this makes sense is if they have learned something about Luka's durability and tendency towards injury that's only going to get worse over time. But even at that, Anthony Davis? And we don't even get good new operas.
  8. Not seeing the logic in that trade at all. Nobody is.
  9. I don't know that it's fair to criticize music that was not yet fully formed for being not yet fully formed.
  10. Check out Mtume while you're at it. I might post that Mtume was to that band what Ron Carter was to the 60s band? My maxim for that band is that "the music is in the middle". It really was its own ecosystem. The term "electric jungle" was not just a figure of speech...
  11. Thanks. Those two...you were on it to have gotten them early on!
  12. Apart from the ECM live set, what three are you talking about? I can think of several formulations of albums, both trio and quartet...
  13. It is the burning sun of its own vibrating invitational ecosystem.
  14. Thank You,!
  15. Assaultive volume?
  16. A lot of LP sequencing front loads the really good stuff on the first side. Or is set up in such a way that each side is complete in itself. Either way, listening to the record uninterrupted on a CD is a different experience, and quite often not a better one. Filles doesn't suffer from this, it's one perfect flow from start to finish, like a classical work of unified multiple movements. YMMV, of course.
  17. Filles is a masterfully unified presentation imo. Even though it's two bands. One of the relatively few LPs that isn't harmed by going from two sides to one. It's actually enhanced. And still one of imo best Tony Williams amazements on record.

    Garth Hudson RIP

It is. Snips are ok, wholesale pasting of entire articles are not.
  19. A fundraiser for yourself? Is that a "fundraiser" or just a business? Or is this place a true non-profit?
