Quite effective, the first really surreal Dylanmoment I've had in perhaps decades. I'll probably never buy a Chrysler, but damn, that caught my attention, that ad did. And yes, Chrysler is not American owned, but the ad seemed to be more about the American worker than the non-American corporation. So either Dylan is pimping propaganda for the non-US corporation, trying to convince the American public that these are gonna be The New Good Old Days, just Be Happy And Take Pride, or Dylan is hoping that we all catch the irony (as per Dylanusual), and then By Cynical And Take Pride, or else Dylan don't give a damn and is making all the money he can no matter what, because, like Jack Webb in Dragnet 1969, he has seen that Everybody Is Wrong And There Are No Answers, or, most likely, all/none of the above

I think that this one is unattractive, and I don't want to look at him, so, playing field leveled, at least for this one.

And yet Bizarro World Super Bowl gives me Bob Dylan Chrysler commercial, so, pissed-off phone call to pranking cable company not needed after all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkC_t9S6JSo Old Dream collapsed-under-its-own-weight into New Dream more dreamlike than Old Dream In Current Condition (aka Dead dream Walking, crawling, writhing), so, Entertainment!

So....Denver is playing in Bizarro World Super Bowl? My cable company is punking me? What/why? I pay my monthly fees (and taxes, and surcharges) to see real Super Bowl, please. The challenge was dumb, their execution has (largely) been dumb, going for it on 4th and 2 with < 2 minutes left in half and no points on board was stupid, they are not ready for Seattle, especially not mentally. Not team, not booth, not sideline. Just not ready. Not. And as beer gets worse, beer commercials get dumber? Correlation? Perhaps!

Can you - or anybody - confirm this by experience/ownership? This one I can find with no (apparent) uncertainty, but I do want to make sure that the Losin site is getting it right, that this issue does in fact have the extra music at the end. I don't mind paying a fair/realistic price, but only if the certainty is there. There's been a fair # of issues of this stuff, and with resellers, there's always the chance that they're linked incorrectly in Amazon (or elsewhere), that yeah, it's Agharta, but no, it's not that version. asking the seller is not always a sure thing either, I asked one guy what the UPC code was for an item, and he told me that the CD didn't have one on it, or if it did he couldn't find it, was is a UPC code, anyway. Well, yeah, ok, buy with confidence, not. And I'm really not into returns of mail-order items, 9.9 times out of 10, I'll just keep the damn thing and find something else to do with it somewhere, sometime, be it an incorrect CD (gifted to a friend's wife this past Christmas) or wrong-size jockstrap (donated to local youth sports program, unopened, of course). I'm currently in a window of doability for buying these versions, but the window ain't gonna be open forever, nor is it gonna be WIDE open while it is, so I just want to be sure that I get the right thing first time out.

Very sad, but what's crazy about a one-time addict dying of a drug overdose? I tell you what, I just finished watching all the color Dragnets (1967-1970), and although, yes, the remembered over-the-top portrayal of hippie drug insanity was there as remembered, what was also there (and less remembered) was the sobering (and continuously proven true) message that there are too many unhappy endings to continued drug use. It's only fun until it's not, and what you're able to muster when it's not is so often literally a matter of life and/or death - and may or may not be a choice that you get to make for yourself. Blue-faced LSD boy was over-the-top, but people dieing from drugs, that's real, and no amount of misplaced-crazy TV will change that fact. I really dug Hoffman's work. He will be missed. Dammit.

Threads merged, overlap cleared, and this is sad, so sad, in many ways, this death is.

So, subjective ass-perceptions aside - is Dianne Keaton attractive, do we want to look at her, and should she get her turn to model lingerie? Speak,Internet, SPEAK! Side note - American Apparel seems to be pushing all kinds of boundaries these days, what with putting glasses on their mannequins. http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/american-apparel-mannequins-added-bush-163000961.html

Thanks. Anybody know where these items would come up for sale these days? E-Bay?

I just checked by new BCSDMFT CD (sorry, I live in an acronym world and am acromymically challenged, so...) of Agharta (bought because holy shit, I thought I had bought this on CD once, but no, had not, DOH!), and the Disc Two timing does not indicate extra music added. Bummer. Are the Japanese Mastersound edtion of this and Pangea (also with extra minutes, or not?) both even somewhat semi-regularly available? I want those extra minutes (I have them on a dub somewhere, and enjoy the effect very much, it's like the concert starts with a Big Atomic Boom, and the end is like a further extension of the atomic decay, a few minutes closer to reaching half-life.

And Bruno Mars/Red Hot Pepper Chillies will not be on the halftime today. I heard it on Weekend Update just last night, so it must still be breaking news.

Morals? This isn't about morals, this is about freedom of the marketplace. If a sexy album cover is not sexy, I do not ask everybody else do I think this chick looks like a coked out skank? I just accept that at some point somebody thought it would work, and if the result shows up here, then apparently it did. So if somebody think that this woman can sell lingerie, it's not for me to wonder if she looks like the ageist equivalent of a coked-out skank would be. Now, if you think for ONE second that I'm going to let some commie ageist radicals disrupt the power of the marketplace by introducing such false imperatives such as age and morals and "beauty", you have severely underestimated by genetic core vales. Here's Lulu in a swimsuit, age 62. To Sir With Love, STILL!!!

Gee, Scott, thanks for the fresh perspective. So, let's make this the Official Organissimo Is She Pretty Or Is She Ugly thread. Post'em here! And to show the ladies that it's their turn too, here's one of our kind upon whom to render verdict: Looks like he wants his junk to be heard, but maybe he needs som assistance to get his message picked up, if you know what I mean. Quite a common predicament!

There is so much of this that I find offensive - that "older women" "should get their turn", and that "this one is unattractive" and that you don't "want to look at her". 62 is not really old-old, and this woman in no way looks "elderly". She's "getting her turn" at what, being viewed as attractive? Hell, my wide is 64, sill got a twinkle in her eye, still quite feminine in her projection, and still gets hit on (although not by teenagers), and she's not being granted her "turn" by some permission-giver, she's just being who she is - an attractive, vivacious 64 year old woman. It's not about "getting you turn", it's about already having it and not letting it be taken from you by the savants who can only stir "sexy" by triggering Pavlovian reproductve impulses. As for this model in these ads - it's marketing. The client thinks they have identified a market, and this is how they are going after it. They will either succeed or not. I don't see the point of telling a global forum that you think that Jackie O'Shaunessy is unattractive and that you don't want to "look at her", and then asking us if we think she is unattractive and if we don't want to look at her. The basic premise behind that question seems crude to me, and not crude as in there's a better way to ask it, just crude as in why are you asking it at all? I'll put it this way - if I knew Ms. O'Shaunessy well enough that we got to that point, I see nothing there that would make me put on the brakes. And since I don't know her, and likely never will know her, well enough to get to that point, hey - it's an advertising campaign and she's a model. And past that...what? Shopping? God forbid.

Are there any box bargains currently available?
JSngry replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
http://www.berkshirerecordoutlet.com/search.php?submit=Find&brocode=148353&show=1 EMI/Angel 50 CD Beethoven box for less than $1.00/disc (pre-shiiping, about $1.25/disc with shipping). For the major works, best to look for quality over quantity, this is not one-stop shopping, this isn't, no way, don't even go there, but there''s enough here to still be a good investment, just to get basic familiarity with overall output. Or, if you're one of those people for whom interpretational differences is irrelevant and/or unnoticeable, hey, there's a buttload full of Beethoven all up in here, so saddle up, Fidelio, let's ride. YEE-HAW! -
I like the ones that have alternate takes and other previously unreleased material, those are the ones I like.
