  1. Back to the original topic - assuming that the reason so many Coltrane albums use photos of Coltrane is simply because Coltrane was a hot ticket (again, relative to the market), maybe the next question is why so many photographers took the same type of photograph of Coltrane? To that end, I've always like this one quite a lot:

  3. Oh yeah, the Tigers owner is a pig and is responsible for a lot of the destruction of historic Detroit, especially Black Detroit. Most sports owners appear to be pigs. Not that that's any excuse. But the less I see of him, the more I can think of the team itself.
  4. I sincerely hope that Hinch is viewing this, being able to build a core of kids as a group (literally, most of the rookies have come up together through the minors) as a personal cleansing of that shitshow he had in Houston. We'll see what happens going forth, both in the post-season and in the years hence/Hinch, but unless/until it gets dark, all I can say is that I stumbled into this team because mine died early, came back for Jason Benetti, and started noticing a bunch of kids I had never even heard of playing crisp baseball that only got crisper the deeper into the season they went. I'll take crisp, always! Plus, Detroit. Now that I got family there and have seen the city a bit...yeah, Tigers!
  5. Kudos to the ChiSox for sweeping the Angels, though. And sympathies to Wash, unless they were tanking for a draft pick, in which case, sucks to be him.
  6. Is that a reflection of Roy Haynes on the treble end of the piano? Or somebody?
  7. 12 rookies on the active roster.

  9. Gonna read a lot this weekend, should be fun, thanks! Wait, might watch a bunch of baseball. Fun there too, thanks! Or maybe I'll listen to one of my favorite Bill Barron records: If I can find it that is... it's not in the "B"s... But seriously, my 2-fer is filed with Coltrane because that's the first name on the cover. But it's a Wilbur Harden record, and if I would ever come across an OG, it would go under H. Same thing with this one and Cecil: That's a Cecil Taylor record, period. But it's filed under C anyway...and not for Cecil. But Coltrane smiles!!!
  10. Most people who would have had the cover would have also had the record that went inside it. I got it in the 70s on a Savoy 2-fer and the notes specified their origin. Then again, I like to read all that stuff, labels and liners. I've been a geek like that.
  11. That's a good record.
  12. Yet another case of white critics thinking that something is not there just because they can't/don't see it.
  13. According to the label, they were Harden dates. He had the deal with Savoy.
  14. More than compensated for by the inserts! Is that an LP? Wow... Because they were Wilbur Harden records? Or am I missing one?
