  1. Tootie on The Facts Of Life Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie Tooter Turtle as Tooter Turtle
  2. Anybody remember the SCTV episode where Allen decided to cast Hope in one of his films and then...things happened? Rick Moranis as Woody, Dave Thomas as Hope.

  4. Bingo.
  5. Although I think it's overstated by a good amount, I've actually agreed with the "Jerry Lewis is a genius" thing at root. The guy gets timing like very few others, and not just in terms of payoffs. His extended setups unfold impeccably on their own, and the sheer appearance of his props are always where they need to be to get the groove started, like how Morris Day and The Time hooked you in just by looking at them, before anybody even moved or made a sound. The gag started at first subconscious sight, even before your mind had time to process the information. Jerry Lewis is/was like that as well. Is his humor "imbecilic"? Sure, and it's quite often not particularly "funny". But that's only if you think about it, and some things are better if you don't think about them, at least not right away.
  6. Warren Wolf has a Peter Gabriel cover band now? Or what?
  7. Up, for possibly more discussion. This record continues to both please and amaze.
  8. How do you know that they're not just acting like they hate it to make you want them all that much more?
  9. Ah, just Old Feeling, no "That"...my bad! It is a fine album, though, indeed it is.

  11. Ditto, and the same for the opening ceremony (imo). Excellent competitions, though, once that color scheme got adjusted to....

  13. wow...figured it was coming, but still... That was some music. Nothing but music.
  14. Both albums w/Helen Merill, the old one and the later one. I like the later one better because everybody's older and the tempos are slower, but not forcibly so, just naturally so.
  15. Charles McPherson & Barry Harris add a nice spark to this one, but the Gene Taylor/Bill English hookup keeps it going.
  16. 1959/1961 sessions (produced by Herb Abramson...was this material ever released before this?). Used to like all of this type stuff, now like just some. Interesting is the frequent use of James Moody & orchestra, written (and tuned) to resemble the Ray Charles group of the time.
  17. Jimbo Elrod Dizzy Gillespie Jimmy Stewart
  18. In both CD & LP versions, as they are substantially different experiences. Also, the two duet albums w/Konitz, Heroes & Anti-Heroes. Also very worthwhile is the new ArtistShare release of "recently discovered" previously unrecorded Gil arrangements. The detail of the recording, and therefore the ability to hear the details of the arrangements, is about as anything you'll ever hear.
  19. The last, actually.
  20. Tony Romo Tony Roma Rib Hillis
  21. Right idea, wrong title. It should be called The Get Real Book.
