  1. But what complaining about piffling minutia.does is establish a Newtonian hierarchy based on what should be in order TO be. The decisions of the judges are final, unless nobody gives a fuck what they think, in which case there's great fun to be had by just being and not trying to be.. It drives them crazy when you do that, though, as their eminence is no longer even tangentially relevant. They will spend a day telling you what is wrong, but can't muster a few seconds to tell you why it's bad (because it's not bad, that's why, it just didn't go trough the White Filter to get here, and that's a bit forward, doncha know?
  2. Not a cover, but an album title: http://www.amazon.com/Sauce-Q-BERT-D-STYLES-INVISIBL-SKRATCH/dp/B000NZ0DCW OUCH!!!! (and not in a good way!)
  3. Yeah, Stevie Russell. Played with Art Blakesley & Sonny Stitts. You should read more linear notes.
  4. How did ya? No idea. It just started working. Weird...
  5. Yeah, it's like me and Jaques Tati (who literally puts me to sleep). They both got their zone, but if you're not somehow attuned to it, forget about it. It ain't gonna happen. That's true of most things, really, but comedy...people get really touchy about comedy, more so than almost(?) anything else.
  6. YO!
  7. Wallace Stevens obviously never had car trouble in the desert.
  8. If you really be being be bop, it doesn't matter, it'll speak for itself.
  9. Do you not like green eggs and ham?
  10. La Lupe Ida Lupino Loopy De Loop
  11. Floyd just kept having strokes and Floyd kept on barbering, even when all he could do was sit in the chair and slur his words. You find a barber who can do that today. I dare you. World gone wrong, this is...
  12. Now that's signifyin' ! :g
  13. My favorite version, bar none:
  14. Now that I can go for. But the ongoing lie that "Solar" "is based on" "How High The Moon" instead of it...shall we say, being evocative of it has been around so long that it's taken on the province of a Newtonian Fact. Then again, we seem to like our Newtonian Physics in jazz these days...it's so much easier!
  15. Jimmy Rowser King Bowser Koopa Buster Cooper
  16. Finally got the Flash player to work...yep, that's "Solar". But "Solar" is not based on "How High the Moon Changes". Never has been, and never will be. To perpetrate the lie that it is, now that's some Bixing for ya'!
  17. I've been using this as my nap music the last few weeks, and I gotta say, it works great! The first two cuts are gorgeously calming, so when the album begins to drift off into perfect-but-empty sound over substance, hey, no problem, I'm sleeping right through it. Then the last few things start getting more meaningful, and that's what I've been waking up into. By the time it's all over, I feel rested, refreshed, and ready to tackle the rest of afternoon.

  22. Dorsey Blevins Georgina Spelvin Mark Elvins
  23. Hmmm...no luck in either Firefox or IE. Oh well. When do we get the Eddie Vinson papers? That Miles Davis guy needs to be brought down some more notches!
  24. I've begun walking more. You don't need a car, you see/hear/smell more, and it's damn near impossible to do with your head up your ass. So, uh,,,sometimes the car is best left in the garage (and not the mechanic's type).
  25. Life is a car. It either runs or it doesn't, and if you're stuck in the desert, you need a mechanic once you make sure your head's not up your ass. And that's that!
