  2. Strangely pointing things...
  3. I guess now's the time to say this...almost every time I get a pointer to a Marc Myers interview or article, I leave somewhat (or more) underwhelmed. This campaign(?) to rehabilitate the image of el ladrón pequeño does nothing to sway me from my impressions that he is "probably not the guy for me" when it comes to online jazz commentary. Ya' know, this whole internet thing-y, the possibilities it opens up, it just seems to...elude some folks...either that, or not everybody gets the same type keyboard as you and me...
  4. Not really...forever is a really long time...not with audio cleanup software, the internet, and the natural desire amongst music fans (as opposed to Shady Grady biznesscreeple) to share...Plenty of stuff that is so far outside the grasp of El Chulo Barato is being shared (as in...not sold) online.
  5. Only one eye visible!
  6. Well that's two Spanky & Our Gang cuts, so...here's mine...the flip side of "Lazy Day". It's Byrd, not Bird, btw...the arrangement and the lyrics are both pretty batshit crazy. It's like one of those Audrey Hepburn movies where she's supposed to be 19 but you know in real life she's 38 and she falls for some guy who's supposed to be 55 but you know in real life he's 97, and they fall in love and it's supposed to be touching but in real life you know it would be just damn weird, that's pretty batshit crazy right there, that they would make a movie like that and people would buy into, but hey, batshit crazy is the name of this game, as is Sunshine Pop, so I guess..here we go! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaqQKu0bnZQ Here's another one by them...not even sure this is Sunshine Pop as much as it is soft jazz...whatever! These guys had skills.
  7. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/italian-jazz-musician-daniela-ercole-run-killed-upper-west-side-thursday-night-article-1.976222 Not familair with her work, but sorry to hear of this, just because. Sympathies to anybody here who knew her and/or her work.
  8. Don't let the stars get in your eyes (and don't let the moon break your heart)!
  9. Not exactly batshit crazy, but this one takes some unexpected turns along the way, including a chorus that isn't really.....wouldn't have expected this from The Cowsills
  10. Catch a wave and you're sittin' on top of the world!
  11. Frilly girly dancing thingies!
  12. The master:
  13. Arm raised above head
  14. Georgia Anne doing what Georgia Anne do, only even more focused, with lyrics and harmonies that are about as open as open can be. And she creates a new "Dr. Feelgood" (character, not the song, not even the song...) that going forth renders Aretha's character of the same name provincial and anachronistic, if still "iconic". Then again, she's doing that with a lot of things... It's here if you want it.
  15. Who doesn't like a little dwarf now and then?
  16. I think I'll invite the internet in for a beer.
  17. That's some pretty serious stuff right there...Gary Usher must've figure that if Brian wasn't going to use Smile that he'd go ahead and help himself...
  18. Not particularly good, but batshit crazy nevertheless. I do not have the imagination necessary to imagine how some of those chords....got put together in that sequence...and were allowed to stay there...but that's part of the interest in "bad music"..parallel/alternate universes and all that... Everything else on this thread has not been bad music. But this one is. Bad, but batshit crazy bad.
  19. He must not have had time to eat breakfast.
  20. Batshit crazy changes before the chorus tries to normalize things, but it's too late by then...
  21. But not before breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day.
