MC Hammer's New Search Engine - "Better than Google"

Can I touch this? -
I don't know about anybody else, but I don't buy any of that stuff "new", and will only pay for it used if it's at garage sale prices. Proper is pretty, but still sleazy, the Andorrans are "classy", but still sleazy, and although the Chornological (or however they spell it) Classics packages are well-intentioned, well-enough executed, and benign in spirit, they're still no substitute in quality or ethicality for a good reissue made from and by the original "sources", If I have the want/need, I'll buy a copy of an issue where I know that, at least in theory, copyrights & royalties (such as they are) are being paid and/or concerted original effort was put into the remastering (and this is where all the "pretty" boys like Proper and such fail, they just flat out snatch the food off of somebody else's plate and then dress it up all cheap hi-dollar whorish and take it down to the street corner like they GOT something...they do - somebody else's stuff). Other that that, hey, the Internet is my friend. Users who have extreme budgetary constraints and/or different home town copyright laws have every right to follow their own compunctions. My compunctions are that if you're gonna take my woman and then try to sell her back to me, you damn well better have added some real, lasting value and not just given her a boob job and taught her how to be a slut for just anydamnbody. Then again, there seems to be no shortage of a market for sluttery these days.

Who needs Andorra when you've got the Internet?

Gee, I never considered incorporating exercise into the routine...think I should get a doctor's clearance first, like how they say on those ED commercials to check with your doctor to see if your heart is strong enough for sexual activity, like, hey, doc, is my back strong enough for Miles booklet retrieval?

Keep in mind, though, that these issues are actually not legal in the United States. Last I looked, a fair amount of this stuff is actually still in print here. But even if they are not "thiefs" in their own land(s), they most definitely are opportunists of the slimiest, crassest kind imaginable, carney barkers who choose not to even bathe once a week.

The ones I'm talking about were all on Prestige proper and came out in the late 1960s.

I don't claim to be a musicologist (and for good reason, especially in this area) so I'd not want to say. But if I was to guess, I'd say it's a carryover of rag & boogie simmered through a long and who-knows-how-untalked-about interminglings of generations of white and black American Southerners, both when people were looking and when they weren't. There's also the Stamps-Baxter School of Music http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stamps-Baxter_Music_Company in Dallas, which Lister attended, and who knows what he heard when he was here? The influence of black music is obvious, but you can't really call it an "imitation" either, not in any way, not if you've lived in the south (or at least, the south before it became part of The Giant Strip Mall Called America, Inc.) for any meaningful length of time. The cadences, timbres, inflections...there's a distinctly southern thing going on there that transcends race... Truthfully, I know very little about this music other than the most basic Major Historical Facts. What's getting me somewhat interested in it now is the result of some random personal circumstances. But I'll go out on a limb and guess that Hovie Lister's life story might be worthy of further review.

Did somebody's album cover say the word "Greatest Hits"?

Exactly. Last night was only Game 3, the series is only led by 2-1. Just have to put last night behind you and play one game at a time. The players know how do do that. It's us fans that need the work... Rangers can't say the bats haven't come alive either. Gotta wonder if the bullpens' arms have gone dead, though... Thing is, the Cardinals bullpen doesn't look to be in all that much better shape. We get to them one time like they did to us last night... The wild card, though, is still starting pitching, and that's where I think we've ridden this horse as far as we can ride it. They guys have skills, but they're just not developed enough yet. May never be, this may be all they'll ever have. But with Harrison & Holland, you still see headroom, not ceiling. Just not all of a sudden, not now. I don't think that's something that just magically shows up at your doorstep on Easter morning... If this shit was linear/logical, we'd be getting to the series when/after these guys had reached full potential. But if this shit was linear/logical, Ornette & Cecil would have happened after 60s Trane, not before. Stuff comes when it comes. Like Wash says, you either do or you don't, you either will or you won't. The rumors have been floating for a few days now, yeah...but still not out in general circulation, is this: http://espn.go.com/b...s-quality-start The Inner Colby Lewis has been dealing (pretty quietly, as it turns out) with a hip problem all season long. No wonder he's been giving up homers like a good girl who just can't say no...and yet this is the one Ranger who's had a good start in the Series so far. He gets toughness points too!
