  1. OH HELL YEAH!!!
  2. Curly Chalker on those tunes reminds me of when Trane would come in after Miles and everything would just...change a little bit until he got back out...not everybody can do that. Now here's an interesting clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8z2qvcHBCM...feature=related Locally, here in Texas, yeah, to some extent. But it's very much a cult thing.

  4. I always enjoy (and am fascinated by) hearing pre-Trane Elvin.
  5. I wish that Dali would've painted his impression of Bill Stern's theme song..."Bill Stern the Colgate Shave Cream man is on the air..." That might've had some real potential.

  7. Richard Roundtree John Shaft Truck Turner
  8. How about Salvadore Dali? Oh, wait, this thread is about something else...never mind.
  9. No doubt. I do have to wonder how that audience will be serviced, but I'm sure something will come along.
  10. You should've asked him to shower.
  11. The Age Of The Album might well have been a fluke. From sheet music to piano roll to 78 to Top 40 and now back to downloading a song, the focus of "western" Popular Music has been predominantly song, not album, based.
  12. Curly Chalker y'all! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy_TJVdoCz4...feature=related Not exactly from beyond outer space...but anybody who can transform an entire environment for a few seconds like he does has gotta have some kind of mojo...

  14. I don't know what that means.
  15. It's one of those Mar-Vel things (for all their reputation as a "rockabilly" label, most of what they put out seems to be more along the lines of "Western Swing" on its way to becoming rockabilly...)...I'm at work now and can't devote a lot of time to finding it, but there is a label photo somewhere on the net...no personnel listed (unlike some one or two things on the label)...but if we could get a name, that would be great...probably some "local" guy...lost forever, maybe...
  16. Yeah, I remember those...mostly written by Mort Goode IIRC. I was about the same age as you, Bev, and was buying a ot of Columbia product. Those Inner Sleeve things did indeed do what they set out to do, which was to arouse curiosity and, if nothing more put the name of the artist or band in your head. but of course, that was also a time when people were hungry for that type of thing.
