  5. I had a random thought cycle about the Raiders a few weeks ago...they were a damn good singles band..."Just Like Me" (not at all similar to "Louie, Louie" imo, if only because it has four chords instead of three ), "Hungry", "Kicks"...one or two more...tight, edgy sound...as the 60s wore on, they got a rep as a bubblegum fan, mostly because Mark Linday pimped like a he-ho to the teen mags (oh yeah, "Him Or Me. What's It Gonna Be", that was another good one HELL yeah!)), and at the time it seemed like it mattered, but today, hell, it was pop and it was good pop, pop that rocked, so what the hell, ya' know? If I could find a wedding band that would cover "Hungry" instead of the same old tired/endless bullshit, I'd be happy about that. But I don't think people wanna put out like that in a wedding band, so there you go, that's what's wrong with all that right there, yes sir. "Good Thing", that's the other one, yeah! I can't really find any fault with that...it's good garage band playing a really good garage band song taken to a very high level. Humanity has had far worse musical fates inflicted on it than this. And check this shit out! forget the stupidass costumes and "antics", just listen... BACK TO THE GARAGE!!!

    VOTE NOW

I've long "liked" Nancy Wilson (the odd item here and there, such as the 1st album w/Cannonball, getting some real love), and had never heard Marlena until just a few months ago (the Internets is your friend), but her work on Cadet w/Charles Stepney & on BN with Wade Marcus (sic!) has been very pleasantly surprising. She works approximately the same "jazzy MOR" vein as Wilson, but with a helluva lot more "street". It's a quality that I find attractive, and between Stepney & Marcus, you get to hear this type thing done the way it should be done. No matter where it goes, it never loses touch w/that "thing".

  20. And keep posting to this thread. It bumps it up to the top & keeps it in the public eye. Perfect! You Be Pimpin' It, Cliff! Atta Boy!
  21. No, it's not spam. I don't work for Pimp Jackson, nor am I Pimp Jackson. Hell, I'm not even Franz Jackson or Jim Jackson. One of the key principles of product placement is to put something in a place where it will stand out. Just the word "PIMP" in a Mosaic thread drew almost 100 views in a few hours. The same word in the Classical thread drewless than 40 in the same amount of time. One win, one loss, but all them be Pimpin'! Bottom line though, it's just fun. Putting something in an incongruous place instead of the usual (like here, where it is now) just for grins. Sorry that our senses of humor/irony/whatever don't coincide. Well, I'm not really sorry sorry, I think I'm kinda glad, actually, but you know what I mean...or maybe not. Hell, at this point, I don't really care. Pimp Jackson is bigger than all of this, and you can take that any way you want!
  22. Plenty of other great places & people in the world, but if we're gpoin' there with that, then this is home, this is immediate family, and I do feel the love thereof and all that that implies.
  23. Oh, we're out in the open now. Your Moderation Dollars In Action!!! :g Ok, this is the thread for the remix, here's the original: I loves me some Pimp Jackson, at least 'til about Wednsday or so!
