  1. The "You Make Me" video is back after having been removed for "copyright reasons". http://youtube.com/watch?v=S7bciPeWS4Y If anybody can rip this... :w
  2. More & more, it's women who are making the music that satisfies me the most. I think that, by and large, guys have sorta played out their "thing" & that it's time to shut up, pay attention, let go, and learn something. It takes a real man to do that.
  3. Nicole Mitchell...what is right about today's "jazz". Would that there were more like her in more places. But alas... I couldn't halp but notice this: Hmmmmm.....
  4. Art Davis was a real man.
  5. A message from the X-Games medical staff: "hey dude. we got the best in the business, the fuckin' best man!, so back the fuck off" "you're just pissed 'cuz ur old" "yeah man, u don't know me!" A word from Mr. Jim after applying the necessary footwork - "Hey guys, remember those balls you used to have?"
  6. Salt water reefer? Never touched the stuff. Dries out the lungs.

  8. X-Games definitely needs to step up the level of on-site medical care. How they handled this was amateur at best, potentially felonious at worst.

  10. Tell ya' what let's do - let's pick Moody up at the airport, highjack his ass outta that bunch, and take him to someplace where him & Marchel can play all night with Roger Boykin, Lyles West, & The Sheriff. That I would go see.
  11. Next thing you know, they'll be mixing blues & gospel. :alien: :alien:
  12. Last month, actually. AAJ's already washed this clean of the cumstains, dried it, folded it, put it away, and now has it lain out to wear for tomorrow night's date. Just how recessed is this cave anyway?
  13. No, not at all. It just seems that the % of jazz musicians on a lot of Greer's dates is a lot higher than normal. But maybe that's just my perception?
  14. Holy shit.
  15. Oh, so that was the spindle then? Wow, never saw that before... Was RCA really that gung-ho about the Speed War that they thought that people would want 45s for everything? God, that's just so...recordindustrial! Ok, there's a book I'd like to read - the history of the Speed War.
  16. Ah... Actually, she only did her first Atlantic session (just 2 songs - " I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)" & "Do Right Woman-Do Right Man") in Muscle Shoals. After that, she recorded (mostly) in NYC but brought the Muscle Shoals rhythm section up for the sessions.
  17. Greer's AMG Bio It's kinda sad. I wonder who produced/contracted those RCA sides. The sidemen are more than a little "high class" on a consistent basis. This isn't the usual case of the odd jazz player or two showing up on an R&B date. This is definitely an arranger/contractor/producer/somebody calling in top-shelf players to cover what for all intents and purposes are "normal" R&B charts. There's definitely a difference in feel and execution as a result. Subtle, but real. Not necessarily "better", but definitely...different, and not at all in a bad way.
  18. My parents had one of those RCA changers. It plugged into the back of our first tv. It came with a supply of RCA 45s by the Sousa Band, Glenn Miller and Eddy Arnold. Played plenty of Little Richard, Fats Domino, Elvis and Jerry Lee on that sucker. My folks had one of those type spindle adapters on their Silvertone "record player", a fold-top job with a really good AM receiver and a warm-tube smell inside it that never went away. Still had that smell when my mom got rid of it in 200?. It also had demand of a stylus that flipped over to play 78s and flipped back again for other speeds. One-stop playback, and the fact that the tracking force was probably 29.75 lbs. didn't deter it from serving long and well.
  19. Hey, can't fight The Seether! Just 15% of a C-Note at Da'Bastids. Probably better deals to be had.
  20. Hey. You know how I feel. Stay strong, keep it as real or as unreal as the situation demands and y'all can handle, and always have something to believe in, even if it's just believing in having something to believe in. Love ya', bro.
  21. No love for greasy tenor? Not even w/Art Blakey? Where's Mr. Goldberg?
  22. Would you settle for a collection of jazz 45s instead? If they come with a supply of these: Can't help you there, although I can do a His and Hers Family Pak.
