  1. Oh yeah, Ignat. He's one Krazy Kat.
  2. Airto Hermeto Jobim
  3. Yeah, that's one of the highlights, as is the aforementioned "Let's go to the motherfuckin' hop" , albeit in a totally different way. Just the delivery...And there's a thing called "Viagra" that is in no way about what you think it's going to be about... Yeah, the man's still got it. If anything, he's got more of it now than he ever did. He's old, his voice is half-wasted, and he's gotten even more unabashedly hedonistic, which makes for some rather, uh, "raw" lyrics here and there. But oh well!
  4. From what I hear, Solzhenitsyn wanted 50% of the gross, and that was a deal-killer. Don't let the public image fool you - that Solzhenitsyn's one tough SOB when it comes to business.
  5. That, or oldies radio prgramming. Didn't Doug Stravinsky go on to become the overnight guy on an oldies station in Bakersfield? Yeah, after he got fired in Memphis for drinking more than Dewey Phillips.
  6. I've got the Blue Velvet Chess 2-CD set, and it's long been a favorite. But this A Capella thing is something I've just found out about. Apparently it's a (comparatively) recent live recording, and if the AMG samples are any indication, it's a must-have. I've been playing the loop of "The Beating Of My Heart" for about 20 minutes now, and to call it mesmerizing is an understatement...

  8. A half-century worth of years, that's what I'm talking about! But enough about me. Let's talk about this bottle of Doug Stravinsky's CC
  9. Only recently found out about this side, and listening to the AMG SAMPLES have made its obtaination in some form an imperative. Apparently it was in print for something like 30 seconds. I've only found one copy for sale online, and it's going for a price which I cannot afford. So any leads and/or other assistance will be greatly appreciated. No PMs please, but email through the board is always cool. The Moonglows RULE!
  10. I'm drunk on life.
  11. Didn't Stravinsky have a peevish brother who was into CC? What was his name, Doug? Yeah, that's it, Doug Stravinsky. Cat tried to write film scores but couldn't get hired because all the srudio heads thought that he was gonna write weird shit like his brother. Kinda sad, really, but it's his own fault, I think. He shoulda just chagned his last name or some shit like that. Married somebody's sister or something. Hollywood helps those who help themselves, ya'know? But yeah, that might well have been Doug Stravinsky's CC. He left a trail.
  12. Man that shit might have been owned by The Beatles!
  13. I'd drink that shit in a second!
  14. Hell man, that shit be aged!
  15. Yeah, the 60s stuff is pretty damn intense.
  16. Ingo. Came out around 1975, IIRC.
  17. Jan Berry Jayne Mansfield Marie Antoinette
  18. If even a handful of guys get overcome by their golden shower fantasies, that place could get real messy real quickly...

    Nathan Davis

I said he was from Pittsbugh. That's wrong. He's from Kansas City. He's on staff at the University of Pittsburgh, and was already there when I heard him at that clinic. Guess that's how I made the connection. My bad.

  23. Listened to it last night. It's a keeper. Just don't expect Flashlight Revisited or anything like that. This is an album that combines the trashed out vocals of Rio-era Sly with the production finesse of Prince's very best work with the stylistic scope of The White Album. There's a healthy dose of both street talk and Clinton's patented surrealistic social observations thrown in for good measure, sometimes sepeately sometimes together). The ingredients are all familiar, but the combinations of them are sometimes startling. And what he does to "Goodnight Sweetheart" is nothing short of warped genius. Like I said, it's a keeper.
