  1. The anecdotes-then-musings pattern doesn't stop. To me that makes for a most effective storytelling, but YMMV. of course.
  2. After finishing, my opinion is that this book will come to be regarded as a classic of the genre.
  3. Burp Perpitol - Hear Me Now!!!
  4. Mel Torme strikes again.
  5. Supposed to? Not unless she's family or something?
  6. If approached as such yes. Otherwise there's a real possibility of it simply being a petulant vanity.

  8. Here's about 20 seconds for a DJ to sound like either a total idiot or king of the world. Them that's got shall get, etc
  9. Why are we more interested in changing old records than in making new ones? It seems king of a Rambo-esque "do we get to win this time?" pursuit.
  10. I like those radio MCs. That's justh what they did. I'm pretty sure that there were more location radio shows than record dates, eh? That Johnny Claes band sounds pretty good, especially the sax section!
  11. Always a pleasure.
  12. Boe and the Flaccid Fascists - Clamps Anyone?
  13. A HIT single! And album! Credited to Bob Dorough.
  14. Come to find out it was a Top 40 hit for Torm. TTK, does this push any buttons for you? https://m.facebook.com/LennyGamble2/videos/mel-tormé-comin-home-baby-live-1962/363618991404593/ It makes me want to slap that mofo silly, even if he is dead now.
  15. I think it was a "hit"?
  16. The Atlantic version was the "hit" , right?

    Dennis Gonzalez

Definitely Lavalle Houser on bass. I remember now... Met him through Alan, used him for a "free funk" band/gig and then recommended him to Dennis. Great player, super nice guy. Sad to say, I totally lost track of him. Hope he's alive and thriving today! Back then, there were so many different layers/pockets of who was playing what where in Dallas, . So if you got a rec for somebody you were unaware of, you took it. If it worked out, hey, more pieces with which to solve the puzzle!
  18. Graham Colombé...I thought that name sounded familiar...Jazz Journal International guy. Used to read the mag regularly when it had ready distribution here, mostly enjoyable, but there was no shortage of "eccentrics" and/or "cranks", I'm thinking that he might have been among them. What he's done here is kind of Dean Benedetti in reverse, and ok, he's entitled to do that. But to distribute it, even at no charge, in an Ellington specialty magazine seems to be the type of thing somebody does just for the attention.
  19. Even worse than rechanneled for stereo!
