  1. That's a butt load full of records! I don't think I've ran into one of those before, ever.
  2. The stuff that is marginalized is some of the most interesting imo!
  3. Ok then, I do have Masterpieces on an OG Masterworks LP (totally lucked into that one) and the other material that was first issued on LP, as well as a French LP called Primipn' For The Prom. So...just some stray singles is all that's left? All of the really "important" stuff has seen mainstream release in my lifetime? Ah, but the rest... I have enough LPs and CDs already. Also not in the mood to deal with foreign sellers right now. So a Mosaic would be just what my Ducal Doctor would order (if not pay for.
  4. Are you referring to the three The World Of Duke Ellington sets? I bought those as released, and also have all that was released originally on LP. How much more is there?
  5. Manira Lasupas Sketti - Say When!!!
  6. The alternates are nice, but don't really offer any further enlightenment. Good to have to have, but that's it.
  7. In favor of what? This Jasmine disc is not exactly great audio quality...
  8. This. A Mosaic of Ellington's Columbia work from 1947-1952, why not? Even with all the singles of variable quality, the band is consistently superb, and a few of the singers are quite fine.
  9. Lyles financed it, so that's his decision. I'll pass along the interest!

    This absurd. That's a compliment.

  12. Overlooked by Jasmine, too bad. But Kay Davis!!!
  13. Max Barnkus - Fat, Bald, & Unloved!!!

    Alex Paxton?

You're welcome! I hear it like that too + Carla Bley.

    Alex Paxton?

https://alexpaxtonmusic.com/ https://www.rayfieldallied.com/artists/alex-paxton Not bashful! Seems like he leads as a jazz trombonist but his output is composition. Perhaps more heard in "classical" circles? I hear, in part, the spirits of Carla Bley and Frank Zappa (minus the misanthropy). I'm initially excited. We'll see how long that lasts. But right now, yes.

    Alex Paxton?

A new name to me, but apparently getting a lot of composing commissions. I bought his new one, Delicious, the other day via Bandcamp, and it's gotten me to explore more and then buy more. Gotta say, the initial reactions are one of excitement, like genuinely 21st Century music (which is not to say it's ungrounded in any way). A LOT of stuff happening at once, but it all makes sense and holds together. No discussion on him here...anybody know of him?
  18. Does that song list match any record?
  19. First thing I did when I got this was to burn it into individual session. Not that much work, and the additional lucidity gained was really worth it.
