    Anthony Braxton

75 seems kinda young these days...I hope it is, at least for this guy, probably one of the sanest people alive today.
  2. https://ronaldshannonjackson.bandcamp.com/album/ronald-shannon-jackson-live-1982-chicago-navy-pier no CD option...
  3. Condolences to his brother Arr.
  4. Yeah, I'm getting a rough listen to this and feel compelled to buy. STRONG!!!!!
  5. Hey, all I posted was a picture. No need to say anything, worth a thousand words, etc. I like the guy's look!
  6. I got my shipping notice today, it's due here on Friday. For the record, Scott has been very gracious about, and during, this whole thing. That counts!
  7. Flugelhorn, styles..1957-58?
  8. I like his look, and posted the picture as a tribute to same. Nothing political about a man with a good look!
  9. Oh, as it pertains to "politics" in this thread...we're walking a very fine line here, and maybe have veered outside it before puling it back in, but for the record - yes, this whole time feels more than a little "existential crisis"-y for so many people in so many ways, that have at once everything and nothing to do with "politics". so here's what my principles are going to be on this thread - the more the discussion is about actual events and circumstances the discourse is, facts, the safer we are. The more it goes towards actual politics and political figures, the closer outside the lines we go, and the more moderation will be watching to see how quick it comes back in. And if this ever turns into, to use Mika Breshinski's most memorable of phrases (at least I heard it from her), a drunken beer truck, then yeah, we're done here.
  10. I grew up on Maynard Ferguson, Bill Chase, and Cat Anderson, so I prefer a Double Hi-C, actually.
  11. Yep, this is where we all (hopefully) want Keith Ellison to bring his A-game straight through, all the way, do NOT fuck this up.
  12. I'd like to add that, as a general principle, history is a trailing indicator rather than an absolute predictor, odds, being just that - odds.
  13. Ok, Sonny being between bands in 1962, Miles having a gig but no tenor player, Sonny filling in for a quick minute, that makes at least some kind of sense, But none of the rest of any of this does.
  14. Until then, I can d/l to my devices (and burn as possible) and probably not give a damn if they ever do. I've done the right thing in placing an order and will gladly pay when the order can be fulfilled. Until then, hey, thanks Amazon! Hope the label is as happy about this as I am...
  15. It's taking a media break until fall. It's using the time to refresh, revitalize, and rejuvenate. The smart money continues to watch the #s anyway. So...are you going to continue to post about police states and military coups or not? I mean, I don't care, your call on that one, just wondering what the guiding principle is going to be.
  16. Americans really need to do some boning up on both The Insurrection Act of 1807 and Posse Comitatus Act of 1878. These are the laws in play here. Citizens need to be aware of both the language of these laws as well as their application over the years. Do your own research, get facts, not opinion-reinforcing blabberchatter. We The People need to have a clear (and clear-headed) understanding of the irrevocable principles of these laws as well as their fur-lined fuzzy grey areas. There are laws about this shit, ok?
  17. Ok, check this out - I opted to buy from Amazon proper, even though the item is temporarily unavailable. So I'm not yet charged. However, the record qualified fo Auto-Rip, so I now have a copy in my Amazon Music folder. Not a free record forever, but a free record for now, and purchased legitimately!
  18. Well, i already ordered it, so...too bad about that. But I do think a picture emerges of a period in which Miles continued to be bored, and possibly self-indulgent/sloppy. Probably a lot of extra-musical considerations there, I think any musical ones would be documented. So I'm thinning if there were gigs at all, they were either highly "local", like in Brooklyn or someplace, or a weekend in someplace like Detroit, Cleveland, Philly., something for a quick and easy paycheck. But maybe not even that. Maybe he jsut didn't do anything for a few months for whatever reason.
  19. Their jobs. We got rules about how this shit works. Not just rules, but laws, bygod actual laws, with precedents and policies and procedures and all that good shit. You may not be a criminal if you thing that the rules don't apply to you, but you sure as hell are a criminal - by definition - if you think that the laws don't and proceed to act accordingly. I don't care if you're some self-thinning herd member or the president of the united states, and i don't care what you use to justify your actions if you don't obey the law, you are a criminal. To what extent, that's for the courts to figure out. not the individual. This is not complicated. Really it's not.
  20. Forgive me, but... DUH! I mean, who in their right mind is equating or otherwise grouping "the protesters" with "the criminals"...who needs to sort this out to begin with? This is a complication of perception, not of reality.
  21. Ithis is a darn good record. I didn't realize how much I missed hearing George Adams until I started listening top him again.
  22. Ask not what you can do to your country. Ask what your country will do to you.
