  5. interesting indeed... maxine had already made the shaw gordon transition at the time? (and gordon and shaw continued to play together after said transition?) hadn't known maxine had been a musician herself btw... 6. thanks again! recollections of gigs like yours are the things i always hope for in books and rarely find... (is there a biography on shaw, btw?) actually i haven't heard any of the very late woody shaw recordings, the last one i know is "in my own sweet way" from Switzerland February 1987 which is excellent; then come a number of american recordings in may and june 1987, one with hubbard and imagination which reportedly are not bad... then comes a year of absence from the studios until june 1988 - this is when you heard him i suppose... and afterwards three more albums two with the paris reunion band and carlos ward's lito (which i've been trying to find for quite some time now without success)... this gig looks more interesting than the one you described... __________________________ Prince Lawsha & Firebirds (France Culture radio broadcast) rec. 87.09.16 broad. 1987 6 tracks including Nuttin' Out Jones - Music Matador - Oriental Flower. 7. oh my god! thanks very much for sharing this story, depressing as it is...
  8. Christian Escoude - Cookin' in Hell's Kitchen quintet album with tom harrell Christian Escoude - In LA with lou levy afterwards probably the howard mcghee version of the connection
  9. nathan davis - happy girl definitely a bit better than peace treaty i'd say...
  10. international jewelry center 550 South Hill Street Los Angeles, CA 90013
  11. ok, large scale emi presence is a difference between spotify and deezer it seems (deezer has no emi? or little at least...); but they do have lots of ecm, the free america series...
  12. Nathan Davis - Happy Girl Roland Kirk - I talk with the spirits
  13. you missed kunstkopfindianer (and i think comparing with vincents list a few posts above this is it...) only have all smiles, guess i should get on the look-out for a few more...
  14. webster young - for lady seems those ojcs which were reissued by universal are on deezer as well
  15. on deezer.com christian escoude - live at duke de lombardes (actually have it on cd but not here..., pretty sure it's oop, nice organ trio record with emmanuel bex) one thing which is sweet about deezer is that they have all or at least many of those french universal/gitanes cds by escoude, rhoda scott, randy weston, teddy edwards... (plus the jazz in paris series...); loads of georges arvanitas too... no idea whether everything on their site is there perfectly legally - but they do have a deal with universal so guess these are ok
  16. checked a number of things from this thread, not all - all available on deezer.com as well (which unlike spotify is available in germany - no idea about the rest of the world...)
  17. had never really tried services like these... now giving www.deezer.com a try, not a big archive but nevertheless many nice things to stream without even having to register (first sonny simmons live at the knitting factory, now some massimo urbani for me...) (ah, now i see to listen to more than a few tracks i need to register costlessly, think i might do that...)
  18. Mind you, at the moment I think it's only available to us Yurpeans. not for yurpeans like me unfortunately...
  19. Isn't this one a conn? you're right, sorry - posted after contemplating to buy that one... i did buy shades of redd - actually playing it one right now...
  20. funny, a friend of mine also started that one last night (because it was something like the inspiration to one michel houellebecq novl, Les particules élémentaires... thought i should check out that one maybe...)

    René Thomas

Is this the LP? http://cgi.ebay.com/Eddy-Louiss-Kenny-Clar...id=p4634.c0.m14 http://thomasia.free.fr/disco2.php?id=41 strange with the year 78 vs 70... but this apparently is the lp behind the dreyfus cd... (track lists are identical and thomasia gives 1970 for both...)
  22. there are some nice further tracks on it, like the john dennis solo piece, some of the ada moore, one of the alonzo levister tunes, one tune from sam most's debut album (with pretty amazing clarinet playing), the latter two not available anywhere else for instance... but nothing substantial maybe... (the kenny dorham debut album is great !)
  23. more discussion of the infamous survey here, including a link http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...c=50202&hl=
