the type of album you're allowed to record when you're famous (boning was one of the biggest tv comedians when i was a kid in the early nineties) album presentation in german tv (on tv total - reportedly the only show that still helps record sales) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BWYy1-ysBk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE5ZVXrn7bk this is what he's famous for (doesn't get better if you don't understand the lyrics; "take me now though i'm stinking" is the central line) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3mLtv7s1X0 (the other guy went on to play drums for germany in eurovision 2006, also in a song without much intended comedy content http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlDm86hE99M ) hope their leading happy lifes...

a brief "live version of katanga" (with bolton, amy, ray crawford, dolo coker), two tracks from a pacific jazz session with earl anderza and hadley caliman (same tracks as on the onzy matthews mosaic) and four tracks from 1980 by the "Oklahoma Prison Band" (didn't convince me as much as the other two sessions, but those two are great) don't know where in the world this works (vaguely recall it might work in the us), but i can stream the album here legally, free and even without having to sign-up http://www.lastfm.de/music/Dupree+Bolton/Fireball

you are heartily invited to that ongoing thread where BillF, GA Russell and I discuss places where you can listen to albums for free - can't believe i hadn't been aware of those until a few weeks ago... (after sampling a few tracks you have to register with deezer - did it and nothing bad has happened to me so far)

guess many clifford brown fans have it it's my only clifford brown cd so i guess i can't help you much - the first four or five tracks under tadd damerons leadership are awesome, maybe my favorite dameron pieces, the second half from sweden with art farmer is also pretty good... edit to add, mixed up the two halves, first four tunes are sweden with art farmer, rest is dameron... can you hear it here? http://www.deezer.com/#music/album/104920

Thanks, Niko! I can't wait to play the Allen Eager and Pepper Adams from the Uptowns. As for the VSOPs, I own all I want to hear. Pity they missed the Eddie Costa though, which I haven't got and have never heard. The Bob Florence albums that interested me proved to be a disappointment, as there were virtually no tracks for listening. (I guess I remain primarily a purchaser of albums and am using these sites to help me make more informed choices.) is the eddie costa on the second page, second row, second column another one?

i like to think the latter - hope i won't regret it one day... on a related note, i always wonder whether i should delete being a jazz fan from my profiles...

what's a typical example of good seventies jazz lyrics? i must admit i don't know the mainstream of prog rock (yes, genesis, jethro tull... played magma for the first time two weeks ago but i guess that's another case lyricswise) but funnily, when i feel like i want to listen to some real good english lyrics, fifty percent of the time i play canterbury stuff like caravan, early soft machine, robert wyatt or kevin ayers...

thanks! i like dial b for... so i guess this one's for me!
