  2. wait i wasnt paying attn they EDITED, i thought the performers just arranged it that way for stupid tv. oh god that sucks. of course they did that. well hell at least sonny got the award. he accepted it for all of jazz. i do appriciate it. meryl is definetly deserving to be up there with sonny, but neil diamond and yo yo are small peanuts, neil= sonny? as if. yo yo's good but hes nothing special. the other chick im sure is talented but brodways's broadway. really it was Sonny and Meryl
  3. dude you scored. look at the vinyl closer, its the same record
  4. first of all it is a blue label. 2nd of all look at the hole: there is an unusal ridge arond it, do you see that? its visible in the pic. 3rd, its -not- vangelder stamped. the cataloge numb. is hand etched and there is also some MACHINE STAMPED info too. machine stamped....huh? not on a prestige 45 of this vintage.....?!!! dare i say, is this a -bootleg-?!? i mean really. this doesnt fit any of the patters of a usual prestige item. i should of just bought it, it only was .98 cents. jeez. well anyways can u guys make light of this anomoly? or is it an anomoly just to me? * or some unual juke box edition (im thinking of the weird ridge>..)
  5. oh ok, ha ha- ""everybody happy!"" you guys know that if i lived on the eastcoast, i would actually make that sign and erect it in rudys driveway.....
  6. I saw him one time in concert. RIP
  7. yes AllenLowe, but its extra funny beacuse that is the place where THE TURAROUND was recorded, lolz

  10. i dont get it, what is this program going to do. u can listen to blue note on yr phone?
  11. totally, maybe thats what they meant by "re-recording" ,man i gotta call rudy one of these days
  12. was just lookin at the back cover for this, it says recorded in france by some french guy but then it says RE-RECORDING BY: RUDY VAN GELDER. this record is vangelder stamped. so rudy got the mastertape from france, and what next...did he really "re-record" it? wtf.
  13. whatevs i love late 80s LA smooth jazz im going off memory of the TRIP reissue of the album w/ hutcherson, you could be most correct
  14. i just got this cd from 1988 called billy mitchell in focus where u just plays keyboards, but it looks like him. u know, billy mitchell from the 60s, the sax player, billy mitchell/bobby hutcherson, all that. is it the same dude? discogs.com seems to think so...but yea.....
  15. you have not posted yet the one i had, about a magic rooster, the front cover has the rooster on it. the record is very strange....a real early childerns record, and it does not sound very fun. its very strange narration with some stranger organ music....very perculiar, dont quite get how a child would enjoy this blue label riverside, deep groove both sides, in cellophone.......
  16. @ hardbop: THATS the one with the different rvg stamp ive never seen on any other lp thats like a teeny tiny block 'RVG' stamp
  17. i liked the part when jimmy was playing satisfaction, over and over, lol
  18. http://blog.goo.ne.jp/67camper/e/8e5ce246547a62ee94b7e8d81f6959b5 well obviously it wasnt regestering there and then it dawned on me, this isnt a great find, this is a spectacular find! this is as rare if not rarer than Tina Brooks True Blue. my god. did they even HAVE distribution outside of LA for these? this is so awesome, im so cool
