  1. I've been listening to your BFT tonight, disk 1. I really enjoy track 2 (sounds familiar but I can't figure it out). My only guess at this time is that track 12 really sounds like Joe McPhee to me. I have a album called "In The Spirit" that is one of my favorites. To me spiritial kind of describes his playing. Regardless of who this track is, I like the playing.
  2. If ethical is a word you want to be associated with, you don't have a dilemma.
  3. "Landscape With Open Door" - Pierre Dorge/Walt Dickerson
  4. For some reason, I started on the bonus disk also. Track 14 really works for me. Big bass. Swings pretty good at times. At first blush I thought about some of the Dutch guys. Anyway, I will be interested to find out what this one is. Probably will eventually cost me money.
  5. No, I have not tried it. I've just never downloaded anything and sometimes computers scare me. I will give it a try. I didn't have much input but I got your last BFT and enjoyed the selections. Thanks. Thanks aparxa, also.
  6. Well, I am dumber than a bucket of hair when it comes to this stuff. Do I need any special software to download files??? Thanks.
  7. The record has made several moves with me so I guess anything is possible. It may have always sounded that way and I just don't remember. It's tough to get old. Thanks for the response.
  8. Thank you for the info.
  9. Well, this is probably a dumb question but is anyone familiar with this LP? My copy looks pristine visually but has a background "hiss" when playing. Only record I have like this. Problem with the recording or just my copy? Thanks for any thoughts. It's really good music but the noise makes it hard to listen to.
  10. Papsrus, I got the package from you today. Very fast. Thanks.
  11. Bump The Renaissance by Bobby Previte
  12. Way back when, I bought quite a few LPs mail order from Rick Ballard Imports. Any chance this is the same Rick?
  13. Do you guys think there is more of a chance to damage (scratch) CDs storing them in plastic sleeves?
  14. Is that the record with the good music but extremely ugly cover painting? Pretty music, yes. I couldn't find an image of the cover anywhere but it is a human head on a plate with an apple in the mouth. So maybe ugly, weird at the very least.
  15. "Nouvelle Cuisine" - Jean Vanasse-vibraphone; Miroslav Vitous-bass (Justin Time)
  16. Nice one. One of my favorite albums by Maupin. One of my favorites period. This afternoon I listened to "The Ritual" - Kahil El' Zabar with Lester Bowie and Malichi Favors.
  17. The Jewel In the Lotus - Bennie Maupin
  18. Thanks for the post, Adam. I have been hoping they would re-issue the Clusone CD soon.
  19. I haven't listened to this in a long time and I don't know why. I've been using my turntable alot lately and really enjoying it.
  20. I was a loyal longtime subscriber as well but I let my subscription lapse after the first issue of this year. I have been vacilating ever since about renewing again. The price increase didn't bother me so much but I kind of liked getting the darn little thing every month. Also there are fewer interviews and I felt fewer new reviews if you look at it on a yearly basis.
  21. The Clean Feed label has really put out alot of interesting looking stuff in the last several month. I also enjoy the Freejazz site but I have to stop going there. My budget is limited I can't afford the temptations.
  22. I don't mean this to sound like "piling on" but I'm waiting for a Walt Dickerson also. Just so you know it's not just you.
  23. Any thoughts on release dates for those Hats?
