  7. glad i've got mine already!!! RUNNING LOW The Columbia Jazz Piano Mood Sessions (7 CDs) $112 A Treasure Trove of Artistry And Technique In 1950, Columbia Records set out to chronicle the then-current musical landscape under the banner "Piano Moods." We've chosen to re-release, for the first time in nearly fifty years, the jazz sides from the Piano Moods series. There's the lush complexity of Errol Garner; Joe Sullivan's rugged lope; the quiet eloquence of Eddie Heywood; Jess Stacy's expressive use of dynamics and upbeat attitude; the delicate command of Teddy Wilson. Additional highlights include a thrilling, live solo-session from Art Tatum, recorded at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium a year before the Piano Moods project began and two drummer-less sessions from Ahmad Jamal recorded in 1951-52, with Ray Crawford on guitar and Eddie Calhoun on bass. The Mosaic Records booklet includes a behind-the-scenes look at the series by the original producer George Avakian and an essay by pianist Dick Katz.

Here is a photo of the concert at the Unesco in Paris last november : Claus Reichstaller (tp), Maurice Brown (tp), Benny Golson (sax), Nathan David (sax) the sax player on the end is nathan "davis"
