Is Marsalis being blamed or accused for making money, having a philosophy that you despise or for making music that does not appeal to your ears ? In terms of moneymaking, they are a lot of worse culprits than him. If he can make money doing his stuff, good for him. Philosophy wise i try to separate myself from my appreciation or non-appreciation of the music and the artist's opinion about it. If an artist dislikes another one for artistic reasons, am i supposed to choose between them. Finally, if you don't care for his music, ther's plenty to listen somewhere else instead of hating the guy. I can understand the annoyance at the guy and i share it for nominating himself, prime minister of jazz or whatever you can call it. But quite frankly, i don't care much about the opinion of the masses regarding the cultural industries. As long as he does not put his weight to forbid music he does not care for, he can do whatever the hell he wants.

When i buy or rent a DVD, i like to have the time to watch all the features. However There is nothing more i enjoy than listening to the audio commentary and l whether it's the director, actors or a specialist commenting the movie in an informative and at the same time entertaining way. Unfortunately, i fear we have more bad examples of this features. Too often, i feel that the people are either not taking it seriously or are not well prepared for this exercice. Also it's not a given to talk throughout a feature while still being able to keep the viewers interest even for pros of communication. As instructive they can be it's often way too gruesome to listen to some scholar talking in a monocord way that can bore you to death. The best examples of great commentaries would be what we can find in the Simpsons and Futurama DVDs. Anybody else has recommandations of movies, tv shows, live concert on DVD with worth wasting your time audio track

Heaven help me, I bought this today, and I've never seen an episode all the way through in my life. Arrived a couple of days ago, and I'm still on season one. I must admit that I'm really enjoying the series so far. Very relaxing just to watch an episode or two a day. The first seasons were good, however as the show moved on, then it got a little cheesy and had way too much sentimentality that i could handle plus the fact that i could not stand any of the main characters anymore made me give up on it

Games to watch this weekend Saturday Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen. Sunday The Manchester derby that i won't see, dams Setanta, followed by Liverpool-Chelsea.

How is the book VB? I always found Kahn to veer toward the melodramatic in his books. Of course, with Dempsey's life, that might be a great way to go. Very entertaining so far, although with Dempsey's life, it would be hard to make it boring, My only qualm would be that he thinks that he is as interesting as the subject so he puts personal stories about himself in it.
