Still wish for a Mosaic box set!
I just queried Scott about it, he said "We'll look into it." That could mean they actually will look into it or be a polite brush off, i.e., not in our lifetime!

It's Mosaic. I've ordered it. I'll be interested to see if they do that 60s Lee Morgan set. I still think a Lionel Hampton 40s big band set would sell.

Yeah, I go back to the Monk Blue Note set, but like Jim, money was a big factor in those days, so I didn't order the Tina Brooks set at the time. Once the cds came out, though, I got those and bagged a copy of the booklet from Mosaic to go with them. I've made up for it since, though the Brooks LP set is now one of the few Mosaic sets I don't have.

I only read the large print shipping notice. It’s to the warehouse. But it still means the set is on it’s way.
Yep, same here. And more or less on time too. Will wonders never cease?!

Thanks everyone. I think I'll jump on the Savory Mosaic before it runs out.
A very wise decision!

I was still furious Thursday that I hadn't invested in the damn Buddy Bolden set.

Palmer, by the way, wrote the "detail" notes for the Mosaic booklet. Michael Cuscuna himself wrote the introductory essay.

I found this quote on the IMDB:
"on working with Dexter Gordon in 'Round Midnight (1986)] It was incredible. Sometimes it was difficult to bring him in front of the camera, because crossing the courtyard of the studio could last one hour. But once he was there, he was so smart, so on top of it, and so knowledgeable about the camera. I never did more than three takes with him. He was amazing. One day he didn't show up. The next day, I wanted to kill him, but he came up to me and said "Lady Bertrand, I made a huge mistake. I knew I had to come and work, but my mind was set on going to the Turkish baths. And strangely enough, I could not change my mind." And what can you say to that? You cannot scream and yell, and be angry."
RIP.
That's a great Lester story!

Delroy Lindo should have gotten an Oscar nom for that one.

Agreed.
Honestly, IMO most of Mosaic's communications and actions over the past 3 or so years have pretty much screamed "Liquidation!" So I expect basically nothing and regard any further releases as gravy, pleasant surprises, whatever.
After extended fence-sitting I went for the J. J. Johnson, one I'd long considered but held out on. No doubt heresy, but I've been in a downsizing mode (getting old, etc.) and Mosaic's bulky format appeals less and less.
I don't know about that. A new Armstrong set, a Lou Donaldson set, a Black and White Label set, and a possible Lee Morgan Blue Note 60s set? Seems to me they're fairly lively.

Those prices are very, very good. Anyone who can afford it would be wise to take advantage of this one.

Given the correct cheesy sci-fi movie, the Theremin is a thing of beauty!!

Mine arrived today, and I'm enjoying disc 2, listening to the rehearsal takes of "Mack the Knife." Some very fine Teagarden on the first couple of discs. I like how they've organized it, with the Singles on the first two discs and the rest devoted to the albums. I also like Riccardi's notes in the booklet so far (I read as I listen). Lots of interesting detail about Satch and the sessions, and he doesn't whitewash weaknesses.
