  1. It ended at $1,585. It's a Classic Records re-issue, with the faux deep-groove and addresses. Except, of course the obvious 'Classic Records under licence etc.' line at the bottom of the back cover. http://cgi.ebay.com/VG-RARE-Lee-Morgan-Ind...1QQcmdZViewItem check out the feedback from buyer. really nuts. i wonder if seller is going to get away with it. I think yes. The auction ended Feb. 8, and the positive feedback was posted Feb. 10, for a seller who doesn't accept paypal, only checks and money orders. This seems rather suspicious. Does the buyer live next door to the seller? Seller's in Palm Springs and buyer's in Austria... that's some fast shipping! I don't think the deal was finalized. Mutual agreement : you leave positive, i leave positive, but no transaction. (hey, sometimes i wonder if THEY read OUR comments ! Obviously they should !

Except, of course the obvious 'Classic Records under licence etc.' line at the bottom of the back cover. http://cgi.ebay.com/VG-RARE-Lee-Morgan-Ind...1QQcmdZViewItem i don't know ... while looking at the pictures i've noticed that both the cover and the record look absolutely brand new, without any signs of use or aging ... no spindle marks, no fingerprints, no yellowing, nothing ... but yet the grading is only vg+++, not mint or near mint. and you guys are complaining all the time about overgrading by ebay sellers ... I have some vg+++ copies of rare BN, including a vg++++++++ True Blue, if you're interested, just PM. Cash only. The trouble here is not the VG++++++++++++++++++++++++++++/NM--------------------------------------------- grading, or other bullshit, its the fact, that one more time an asshole sells a "Classic" as an original and another one (classic) asshole bids 1585 $ on it. With a little help from a good bunch of lucky assholes that made the price to this level. Now the happy asshole has his Lee Morgan INDEEP.
  3. I got it today : Benny Golson "Groovin with Golson" New jazz 8220, original DG purple.
  4. Its good to see that eventually we find the right way.
  5. welcome unbelievable if that works ! (can't they try to, say, remember ip addresses?) (no idea of technical stuff on my side) so far so good, i still have to log in to popsike, but by clearing the cookies, i don't get the "give us your money" message any more. every time i log in, it will drop a cookie on my computer, so every week (or thereabouts) i clear the popsike ones out. I'll try to clean my ebay cookies and get an Hank Mobley on Blue Note (or two) for free
  6. What is the original cover for this one : the girl cover of the red one ? (dawn 1106)
  7. Thanks, I never realised these 'second' white pressings have been sold in the US as well. Interesting. The blue (both large and small) label issues show similar variations: some are heavy and have wide deep grooves, others are lighter and have raised edges (and patent nrs.). It's not always easy for us collectors! I think the "patented" large blue were also pressed in purpose to be sold both part of the Atlantic same as white. The blue label with "pat" are in fact the earliest large blue label (between 242-243 and 250 : i have a 246 blue with "pat" number). After that, European pressing are on the way : the first edition have white label : means that, for some number, some european press have a white when the blue was used in the US.
  8. I think those raised rim were actually pressed in the US, but a part of them was exported GB and Europe. So they have the 2 patent. They are IMO second white US press. I've some of them, all come from Ebay in the US. I confirm They are very light compared to flat edge.
  9. Bud Shank "New Groove" Pacific Jazz PJLP 21 mono original DG. Fine, with "the remarkable" Carmell "the remarkable" Jones. Serge Chaloff "Blue Serge" in Capitol T 742, turquoise original. Fine, but IMO does not deserve the recent hysteria regarding original press. And now : ...[ Don Byas DonByas Don Byas Don Byas Don Byas forever. Gone but Never forgotten.
  10. Some ideas : "The More i See You", by Hank Mobley on Roll Call "Flamingo" by Don Byas; reissued on " Laura" (Jazz in Paris series) or "We're all alone", by Boz Scaggs on "Silk Degrees" (better fot the night after...) Or...
  11. if you want a picture of an original cover PM me.
  12. Small labels are smaller than large labels
  13. The original label for this one must not be small but LARGE (we are in the 250's catalog number). The legend of the "small label" has misleaded many Riverside buyers. In fact not all first press have a small label. The adress on back must start with "553 ... " on not "235.." This session was recorded january 1958, probably published a little later. This press may be around 1959/late1959. "553" adress with large label exist, of course, as a final proof of this scam. But who cares ?
  14. Tip : When i log with my old Safari or (very old) Internet Explorer version, Popsike never ask me to pay...you should try.
  15. what do you mean ?
  16. it is unbelievable. No...I'm still optimist : in the future days, i believe ther will some negative feedbacks on both parts...
  17. Wynton Kelly on Riverside at 417 $second press described as a "true original" incredible !! we live in a fraudulent world, aren't we ?
  18. Fetichism is a disease, I bet there are people out there ready to pay more then that for used undies of Angelina Jolie or Madonna. Or Serge Chaloff's. Starting price : 295 $
  19. Now i know what's your secret to clean your collectible jazz LP.
  20. wow ! low number i presume ? maybe this one ?
  21. Actually I think Blue Serge is still available because of it otherwise... Why pay that? www.vinyl.com has 3 different versions available new. Might not sound as great as an original, but should sound fine and you save hundreds (maybe thousands) of dollars. Because I have the cd already, so if I'd going to buy a vinyl I'd like an original or an earlier reissue, or, at least, an audiophile reissue analog remastered from the original master tape by a guy like Hoffman or Grundman. It would be nice, 150/250 bucks on eBay...mmmhh, I'll keep my cd for now. and neither i need a NM original copy. i already have one
  22. And what about 295 $ STARTING BID for Serge Chaloff 's Blue Serge?
  23. Carcity records in Detroit has an online inventory. Nice people, and grading is correct. prices are OK. I can't remember their site adress, unfortunately (its composed with the name of the owner). Will try to remember.
  24. Unfortunaltely you'll need probably much more than 1 k to get this one from Jeff's list. Jeff Barr or not Jeff Barr (and i've been a regular customer for years with many ++++ and some -----) , those high opening prices for auction are still VERY high And eventually, seller sells to WHO he wants (at the price he wants). I know everyone will tell me how gentlemen is the guy, how he sincerely loves music, and how tasty and honourable and knowledgeable he is and we all are...this is business, period. Private recycling of Ebay hysteria...
  25. And after the lacrymal sequence : King Fleming Trio "Misty Night", On Argo 4006 White promo label.
