And do you like "Greetings from LA" ? another fantastic album.
-
Today : presenting Lee Morgan with hank Mobley Quintet. Savoy 12091 DG red label or press ! Fine. I prefer this session than the Blue Note one.
-
Yep.. this is a record i should have buy back in those 90's years, when it was still affordable for me. Anyway those record from Euclid are always overpaid (same as Atomic and Jazz5060) by Japs. The reputation of the seller explains the high price. This Gil Mellé has always been very rare, even among Lex... Anyway it was not so pricey especially regarding Morgan or Griffin. Now heres another peak...

[ A little help for your answer: my wife haven't got any access to my bank account's report.

And not even a first press : apparently not flat edge, not kakubuchi. But some switch their brain to "stanby" as soon as it reads "deep groove", "blue note" "767 lex" etc...Moreover if its from Euclid. Those guys can sell everything at highest prices. I don't even bids on their records for that reason !! (anyway they also have nice records in buy it now) Have you noticed that the increase of Blue Note prices are mainly due NEW ebayers (low feedback) from Japan... Well.. How many are they ? I think there are a lot of new eBay buyers from Japan because they are tired of paying "top" dollar. You think the eBay prices are high? A lot of the names of the high bidders that you see over and over again are Japanese record dealers. They are buying these and marking them up and re-selling them! Oh yes i know, i know,.. "trot n gallop", "ondemand12".. all are Tokyo dealers....i know one of them. met him in Tokyo.

I don't know whether this one works good or not, anyway, zoologist are formals : This is a Female . Male has only one "on/off" Switch.

According to larry Cohn, Blue Note were NOT sold new sealed prior to liberty era. Sealed copies of pre 66 titles are often older pressings sealed later to be sold to discount shop.... I don't think sealed Blue Note attract premium prices, especially because of the good reasons stated above by the honourable Porcy.

Those Epic album are often great !! Yeah (Rouse) The 3 Dave bailey, The Dave McKenna, The Ray Bryant, The dave grusin, the Phil Woods / and the other with gene Quill all great sessions !!!!

It's been a long time since i did not listen to it. Your post makes me think of it. i'll give it a spin today if i can !!!!!!

Some Blue Note do not have originally any adress on back : 1589 Silver, Rollins 1581, Blakey 4015, 4016 among some others. Like many Horace, it was a good seller, so its been reissued various dates. You can find many labels of this one....

As a perfect fetichist I have an almost prefect W63rd DG copy of Soul Station. I never listen ot it, of course. But my Toshiba CD works well... This post is dedicated to Chuck Nessa

And what are the credits for "Electric funk" (BST83450) ??? If someone knows, let me know !!! -
"Cool Gabriels" on Groove 1005 DG original. Very nice "all trumpet" session with Candoli, Stratton, Sunkel, Travis, de Risi, Bernie Glow ... and after that : Television "Marquee Moon" on Elektra. i really dig that mixed sound of Fender Jazzmaster and Telecaster !!

Look at this MObley 1540 auction : its VG+ (means :probably noisy), described as flat edge, (but infact surely not, because orginals of this one are Lex labels , this one is a later 47 w press, probably circa 1958-1959), cover is Lex but kakubuchi. 30 sec before auction ends, it was still 147 $ ! But (fortunate - ly) here comes mr Japanese and his Esnipe set to 10000000000 $ for anything that bears Blue Note : it ends with 510 !!! for a VG+, later press, seam split....this is now where we are with ebay madness. i bet you now that next copy will be 700, then 1000... etc... http://cgi.ebay.com/HANK-MOBLEY-BLUE-NOTE-...1QQcmdZViewItem

Talkin about Black Patti . Obviously not from a dummy, neither a paralytic, (neither a def).
-
Good point !
-
Here's one that sounds fantastic : Sonny Stitt with the New Yorkers, on Royal Roost (original DG) ; i'm too lazy to check the # on my vaults...
-
Kenny Clarke "Clook's clique" on Savoy blood DG original. Featuring John LaPorta and Donald Byrd.
-
Absolutely That's exactly what i meant with this topic.

The Dummy is always best source of LPs, right ? But thanks (because of) Popsike and Ebay, the dummy is getting rarer and rarer. Anyway, if you find one, stick with your dummy, make friend with him, and get that mint "saxaphone colossus" from the widow ! Or marry her....
