  1. But some (other) dummies like THIS one also eventually, they win it.
  2. What does the dummy who has the BIG MONEY ? He bids on THIS one !!! and eventually he wins (of course).
  3. Yes, right. Bought many rare records from him (mail order) and still have most of them. Fred always takes time to talk by phone, i appreciate that. Not so expensive, just priced accordingly.
  4. Please sir, go back and read your previous post. Nutcake. "so snide" ? "know it all" ? Horny, you should'nt have no problem with that : this attitude is frequently found in artistic fields like music, or photography. That's part of the game. No big deal, unless you confuse with it intelligence.
  5. Junior Cook : Junior's cookin' (Jazzland JLP 58, orange DG label). With the great Blue Mitchell. One of my favourit trumpeters. Fine east coast/west coast session.
  6. I planned to bid 500 $ on this one...
  7. Prestige dates of that era often tended to sound like rather off-the-cuff, let's roll the tape and see what we get affairs, compared to Blue Note dates of the same era on which similar musicians were playing the same style of music. Alfred Lion opted for pre-session rehearsal and preparation, and Bob Weinstock typically did not. This album almost has a Blue Note feel to it. Far more typical of Prestige's "shagginess" would be, say, the Jenkins-Jackie McLean "Alto Madness," also from 1957, which has some fine moments on it but hardly seems to have been produced at all -- given the minimal writing and the blow-till-you-drop length of the title track, with its seemingly endless series of exchanges between the two altoists, intense though those exchanges are at times. Again, I have the feeling that Clifford Jordan was the de facto producer on "Jenkins, Jordan, and Timmons." I fully agree regarding shaggy sessisons. . One of the best example is "A long drink of the blues" by Jackie McLean. Obviously the drink was long.
  8. Looks to be in incredible condition. Lots of these 500 pressings have been coming out of the woodwork of late. We must be up to 499 already. What makes that auction sad is that the record is a CLASSIC RECORDS mono reissue. In the original listing you could see the bottom of the back cover and the OBVIOUS small type at the bottom of the jacket that states the music was owned by Capitol, blah blah blah. I emailed the seller and told him he was sellling a record that could be had BRAND NEW for $30 and he CHANGED the picture and cropped the bottom of the jacket!! He also addes the BS "email from a collector" a the same time. I emailed ebay and warned them that this was a scam, but nothing happened. What a SCUMBAG!! Just looked into that Out ragious made 4.470k on a record by defrauding the public...I hope the buyer gets a chance to return it Should we mail em to help them with what to do or what? In the past i've tried many times to warn high bidders on a dubious or obvious scam. Especially Japanese buyers. They never respond. Only one time, i sent many mails warning a guy that he was bidding 400 on a Stereo ( ) True Blue, of course a scam. Eventually, he won it he send me a mail explaining that "he did not know". For this Mobley, i had doubts, but was in South East Asia for a trip, so forgot about it. Now i'm back, and see the confirmation of the scam... You can see anyway that THOSE "classic" deep groove do not look 100 % accurate...
  9. Here's the third impossible to find 1568 in one week.
  10. Why so high? I wouldn't be surprised if it hits 5Gs... Clifford is an expert Winning bid was $5,360 Yup. I suggest the highest bidder to specify registered mail to Japan and insist on strong packaging. Nice guys at Atomic records, but they could easily send it regular in a standard bags unlimited mailer.
  11. For a so-called rarity of 500 presings there are a lot of these coming up at the moment on ebay. Yeah, same old story...anyway this one looks pretty beat up.
  12. A Lone Hill (at the top of, of course !) would be more appropriate for Dan Gould.
  13. Everytime i listen to the "Favourite Things Vanguard again" version, i have the impression that Coltrane actually DOESN'T want to play the "too famous" opening theme or CANNNOT play it. He's like "forced" to play the theme, but tries to hide into scales, cries, etc...I think it feels almost painful. it hurts him. Its really impressive.
  14. This answer will be of no interest for the topic, but you can buy those Dave Baileys : fine music. Most of the time, blowing sessions. I tend to prefer "2 feets" than "one foot" and "gettin' into". Koch are hard to find, anyway.
  15. This is a Capitol Record Club pressing. For a time in the mid-1960's, Capitol Records operated a mail-order service, through which they offered records on a variety of labels besides Capitol. The non-Capitol records were pressed by Capitol, and assigned Capitol catalog numbers. I've seen Impulse, Verve, and others with Capitol numbers. I'd keep it. Those capitol record club issues are not highly collectible but are of some interest. Anyone knows about the pressing information ? I same pressing run as orginals ? Same date of issue ?
  16. This one also is available on CD. Anyway, they strongly prefer the original LP
  17. A BIG fan of Stones 72 and 73 here !! Which one ?
  18. Howard Roberts "Good Pickin's", Verve 8305, DG tpt label. Sexy cover and Bill Holman on sax. And a swingin version of "Relaxin at Camarillo", not often heard. (Exept from Charlie and Dodo, of course)
  19. Yes it must be. Never seen this sleeve. Not even pictured in the Jap Blue Note cat i have. Also issued as LT 993. Maybe a music in "The Spoiler's" vein ?
  20. Now that he has reached 600, you should see other copies poping up very soon on Ebay... -_-
  21. I love this one. Is it the one with the Barney Kessel's version of "Round Midnight" ? Yes Spinned today : Serge Chaloff "Boston Blow Up" Capitol turquoise original. Jackie McLean "New Soil" BLP 4013, 47 W label Don Friedman "Circle Waltz" Riverside reel and mike original : Don Friedman, one of the most underrated pianist EVER : this guy is a genius.
  22. Goldmine is wrong? Say it isn't so!. Unfortunately (fortunately ?) Goldmine is often wrong...
  23. Me too !!! My fav' Trane + Miles Prestige session Yesterday night : dave Bailey "One foot in the Gutter" Epic Yellow radial DG or. Not unforgettable, but a fine session anyway.
  24. NO ?!!? I suppose i'd have killed him. I Don't care about the CGT.
  25. deep groove exists for this one. label on mine is different than the usual non deep groove ones. According to Popsike.com it has brought same money as deep groove versions so maybe it was released same time as deep groove versions. Yes this one exist on Deep Groove : my copy is Deep groove. Many from around # 380 (if i remember well ?) Riverside were originally relased no DG and DG at the same time. The recessed area is sometimes seen on the no DG.
