Kenny Clarke "Clook's Clique" Savoy DG blood red label original. I love this aerial La Porta's alto sound and the muted trumpet of Donald B.

Do you use and trust Popsike record prices?
michel1969 replied to Footsurg's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Popsike is suitable to have an idea of the price range and demand of a record. That's all. You can use it as you use the "completed items" on Ebay. The interest also is that you can see HOW MANY times a record was for sale, and what average price it makes. Anyway, to sum up the really expensive records are the combination of : - Blue Note + NM original + Reputable seller + compulsive japanese millionnaire = $$$$ And almost nothing to do with the rarity in 95 % of the cases. If there is ONE element missing in the addition, the price remains humans (and affordable for me) One day i auctionned a NM original copy of "the African Beat" on Blue Note. Perfect condition. There was NO bid on this one ! On month later Jazz5060 sold one 165 $. I'm not the reputable seller. Sharks don't bite. I still have my African Beat. I'm not on popsike. What a NM copy of African Beat is it worth ? -

Anyway, this Barney Wilen is REALLY an impossible to find record. Not like those Blue Notes or Prestige you see each week on Ebay and always listed as a "lifetime opportunity". If one really wants it...

Chet Baker "Chet" Riverside RLP 299 DG original. Found it in Italy...

Of the obscure pianists mentioned , I only have the Moer on Del-Fi . The Burton on Joday is available on CD if you just want the music ( and I know you don't ) . I don't think the Will Davis has been on CD . Here's what it looks like : Its a dream to see it. Thank you very very very very very very much. I'd love to own it more than my True Blue or Mobleys (i exagerate a little). is it yours ?

A number of those albums have been reissued by Fresh Sound and are still available. Just search their website: http://www.freshsoundrecords.com/ The Billy Usselton was a very nice surprise. Hardly heard about him before purchasing the FS CD. Really enjoyable one! Fortunately, i have all those in original press. Anyway i'm still looking for one Joe Burton on Joday, MIke Cuozzo on Jubilee (i have the Fresh Sound CD) and some LaPorta, another player. Everest session is nice, but impossible to find a clean copy. And the Will Davis trio on Sue, my #1 "neitherseennorheard" record...

The other Dick Johnson was not on Prestige, but on Riverside. That album was 'Most Likely... Dick Johnson'. Johnson was good but the rhythm section on that one was dynamite: Dave McKenna, Wilbur Ware and Philly Joe Jones. Another album that needs a reissue. As far as I know, it was only reissued in Japan in LP days. I have one of those. I've never understand why Dick Johnson is forgotten. The two albums are Anyway other talented and forgotten : Buddy Childers. Billy Usselton (unique album on Kapp) Barry Galbraith (yes : Guitar and the Wind !) Paul Moer. Jack Millman. Billy Byers. Bob Hardaway. Joe Burton...and all those i still don't know !!!!!

the only one i have is chuck wayne's string fever and it is definitely recommended! nice little big band and a bunch of alternate takes on the Sundazed reissue, Joseph gets a number of solos... alternate take :

For example : Chuck Wayne's on Vik (can't remember the title but Brownie should know that ). On the cover, Chuck playing his D'Angelico New Yorker. The guitar in itself is worth buying the record !

/quote] Michel, careful! You're stepping on the wrong people's shoes! It's J.R. Monterose - not Jack Montrose - on that Will Bradley Jr date. Definitely ! http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Artists/Mon...se/jrm-disc.htm
-
And it's a type error. Wade Legge.
-
JR, not Jack. On the cover it is spelled Jack Monterose. Not JR Monterose. I've listened to the session, and the saxophonist is probably Jack Montrose, not JR Monterose.

I own two original copies of this one. There are two different editions : one with flat edge other with rounded ones. Can't really tell the sound difference. two diffretn covers, too : one has kakubuchi other not. This record is an all times greatest jazz session. I think that the Phil Sunkel's arrangement should not be forgotten. They fit prefectly with delicate sound of Fruscella. Sunkel recorded an arrangement session on ABC paramount, not famous, but very interesting. The drummer of Fruscella's session is Junior bradley, Will Bradley's son, who recorded as a leader for Epic, with Wade Lagge, Doug Watkins, Jack Montrose, and Sunkel. This music can be heard on the "House of Bradley" along with fathers' session. i like those obscure musicians and forgotten sessions !

Yes, but I do not do it, because I think that Justice is due to Courts, not to mediatic pillory. Right -
I listened this one today, too ! Nice Dg first press.

I think both. The army and the Church. Historically speaking that's the most efficient formula. -

I'm confused, and your presumably made-up names aren't helping. Are Bullshitforall, Recordsofsound, and Shitforbrains the same seller or different? You're not helping me know who to stay away from. To save you reading the last 8 pages, he was called recordsforall and ripped off 75,000$ from fake auctions of jazz and psych LPs in late December. I say "was" because he's been kicked off ebay. Recordsofsound is a totally different ebayer who thinks that Nevada is a state in Japan - ask Jazzguy about him. So getting back to recordsforall (I know, it's a joke - hence the word play), what you really need to look out for is the name behind it: Diego Padovese alias The Smart Groover (another ironic name), a small time Italian DJ, soon to be doing time. i'd add that the guy used those 75000 $ to buy pricey northern soul 45's from English sellers. And now, the mess is, that Paypal has refunded the ripped jazz and psych collectors with the money from English 45's sellers paypal accounts. NATO's AWACS are in permanent alert to trace Recordforall (aka by Mark Knopfler "money for nothing and discs for free").Keep posted.
