I'm listening to this recording of Miles Davis's nonet*, recorded about two weeks before their Philharmonic Hall concert (issued as In Concert) with better sound quality. This is the band with the electric sitar and tabla. Miles's playing (w/wah wah) is excellent. A dense, delicious polyrhythmic stew. My only complaint is that you can barely hear Michael Henderson. They perform Black Satin, Rated X, Honky Tonk, Right Off and the Sanctuary theme. Guy *Birth of the Cool, this ain't.

How many other records have they deleted? And let's not congratulate Concord TOO much for reissuing PttP -- it was effectively in print. Guy

I have Musics on CD. As Jim said, it's nice but not great. I don't like the way the rhythm section is recorded. Also, the track where Dewey plays the autoharp or whatever the heck that is just doesn't do anything for me. And he has better musette features elsewhere. I don't think Dewey's other Galaxy album has been reissued on CD. I was listening to the Dewey/Blackwell duets CD again today, and it's just good as the last time I heard it. Dewey's really inspired and unrestrained on this one -- more than on most of the Old and New Dreams stuff I've heard. Guy
