Sport: 2007 NBA Play-Offs Pool

The Bulls will be a lot more competitive next game. But damn, they got whipped today. Unless TMac pulls a few rabbits out of his hat soon, he's going down in another 7 game 1st round series. (I assume he holds the record?) Guy -

'house of the lord' from summum is a personal favorite, but it's pretty much just blowing. Really beautiful, nonetheless. Luminous. Guy

Given a choice between an inexact measurement that shows "bias" and an exact measurement that shows no "bias", which do you think is a better designed study? This is a non-story. A flawed measure found bias. An unflawed measure found no bias. In short, there is no rational basis for the claim of bias. BTW -- ESPN quotes economist Larry Katz on the NBA "study": also:

In the liner notes to the Sam Rivers Mosaic, Michael Cuscuna writes: What do you think of this quote? Cuscuna is obviously presenting a very strong slant on history, but is there a grain of truth? Guy

Jazzbo and Jsngry are big fans of this album, IIRC. I've only heard a few tracks off DT, but I do own Procession which is a nice album. I think I like it better than the post-Mr. Gone albums w/Jaco. Guy

I think Garbarek's playing during the first half of the tune "Personal Mountains" might actually surprise some people if they are not familiar with his avant-garde roots. It's pretty intense, not new-agey at all. Guy

David Stern must be terrified about playoff TV ratings -- Wade, Shaq, Kobe, Dirk are all out already. The only thing that scares him more than a Spurs-Pistons finals is a Spurs-Bulls finals. Guy -

I find this to be highly implausible. Why? Like I said, it almost played out that way. Wasn't that Kings/Lakers game in Sacramento? (yes) Weren't the Lakers slumping? (yes) Wouldn't Avery have preferred to play L.A.? (yes). I think he knew how hot the Warriors were (we had just won 7 of our last 8, including wins against Phoenix, Utah, and Houston at Houston), and believed we'd take care of Portland. The Lakers winning at Sacto was the only thing that screwed it up. But the Clippers were also on the mix for that 8th spot, and I'm sure the Mavs would've played great against them. I think the odds of the Clips capturing the 8th spot given a Mavs victory against the Ws were better than the odds of the Ws capturing the 7th spot given a Mavs loss. Guy -

I find this to be mildly plausible. I find this to be highly implausible. I'm surprised nobody has suggested the theory that Avery threw that game near the end of the season as a favor to Nellie. Guy -

WOW. When Baron went out with the hamstring injury, I was worried. When Baron came back and hobbled on the court like a gimpy garden gnome, I was REALLY worried. Then the second half happened. I AM SO PSYCHED! Props to Stephen Jackson's insane performance from beyond the arc (nice response to that bullshit ejection) and Baron's most-valuable-cripple playing. Nice play by Barnes (16 pts, 11 reb), Biedrins and JRich. Hopefully Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (Harrington) will play better next series. Also, I was very happy to see Adonal Foyle come in late in the game. A little short on talent, but that guy has been suffering longer than anybody on the team. Or at least as much as you can suffer while making $6M a year. Guy -
I remember being at an apartment for a party a few years ago. They had a bunch of aquariums with no fish, only plants. Except in one of the tanks I saw a giant snail, about the size of a tennis ball. It was awesome -- no flushing that sucker down the toilet. Guy

The dude that wrote this needs some geography lessons, but I was cracking up nonetheless: -
I kind of feel the same about Booker. I *love* his work w/Mingus, but in other settings he was somewhat one-dimensional. Still enjoyable up to a point, though. Guy

You are probably right. Good news for W fans: JRich will not be suspended for his "interaction" with a fan in game 5. $35,000 fine. One thing to look forward to in a Suns-Pistons final (unlikely to happen, I'll admit) is Amare posterizing Chris Webber multiple times each game. Guy -
