  1. Uh... this has been going on for a long time. Though they probably should limit the eastern conference to 3 or 4 teams a year. Guy
  2. Man, this is ugly. Seven minutes to go and down by 30. Bleah! I guess we know who WON'T be starting any playoff games. I think I'm going to send Avery Johnson a thank you note. Guy
  3. $&%*!!! The W's win an ugly game against the Mavs' scrubs, but the Clips steal a game against the lethargic Suns. W's gotta win tomorrow against the Blazers (or pray for a Clips loss). Though if they lose against the Blazers minus Aldridge, Roy and Randolph, they deserve the lottery. Guy

  5. I'd go to the dentist. Guy
  6. John Hollinger has a good plan for reducing late-season tanking by crappy teams:
  7. I think his comments may have gone further than simply an assessment of the Nazis' PR and marketing skills -- "beautiful" and "amazing" are not neutral words. Guy
  8. Maybe you'll get your wish. (I hope not.) Also, ref Joey Crawford has been suspended for improper conduct. Guy
  9. You know, this one is growing on me. Not their greatest work, but if you like their sound then you will probably like this one.
  10. I'll admit I haven't been following this story closely -- what are "the totally bogus real-estate conditions"? guy A huge (and inceredibly ugly) condo was erected right next to Tonic (actually condos went up on both sides, but the big blue one on the corner is more relevant to this story). In the course of contruction, the basement to Tonic was structurally damaged. The condo owners then supposedly reported to the city that Tonic's basement was unsafe, and it was condemned. Meanwhile, Tonic's landlord upped the rent from $5K to $10K, which is far more than the upstairs of Tonic alone could support. Now the building that Tonic was in will likely be demolished to make room for more condos. That's messed up. I'd assumed they were just complaining about rising rents in the neighborhood. Guy
  11. I ordered this from yourmusic back in December, and FINALLY popped in disc 1. This music is FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the set. Guy
  12. I listened to this one for the first time in a while today. Very nice album. I need more Quebec in my collection, I suppose. Guy
  13. And so the season goes down the toilet. President Daniels made the right call about Jack's "mission", BTW. Guy
  14. It wouldn't prevent things like this from happening, but it would probably reduce their frequency. (Not a judgment on the moral merit of various gun control laws.) Anyway, I'm done here for the next few days... too early to turn a tragedy into a political football. Guy
  15. Sounds like a good case for gun control to me. No problem, as long as honest law-abiding citizens can still own (certain types of) firearms. Guy
  16. I think at this point that is the "consensus" pronunciation, even if it was incorrect initially. Guy
  17. This group has another album already recorded for ECM. Guy
  18. Has anyone done a statistical analysis of how many wins Kobe has contributed to the Lakers over the past few seasons? I think that would be interesting. You have to wonder how good the Lakers would be if Kobe was a better team player... Guy
  19. I'll admit I haven't been following this story closely -- what are "the totally bogus real-estate conditions"? guy
  20. A few years ago Sony issued a 2 cd version of Santana's 3rd album with a 1971 concert from the Fillmore West. I have the 1998 remaster -- is it worth upgrading for this concert? Guy
  21. We should also have a pool for which so-so player will have a breakout playoff performance, only to get a ridiculous contract the following season (Jerome James, Bonzi Wells, Tim Thomas). Guy
  22. I think this pretty much nails it. I suspect the fetishization of CDs is a generational thing... Guy
  23. I don't think Jim A will be psyched about a link to an illegal copy of an in-print CD. Guy Guy, I didn't realize it was in-print. I can delete that post if you like. I thought I was linking to a fairly hard-to-find Ellington album. (Shows you how much I know about what's in and out of print in regard to Duke.) I thought if people were happy to download it, it would show that downloads weren't so bad. That was my only point. Honest intentions, but it (essentially) backfired. L Yes, you should probably delete it. Even with OOP stuff, I believe Jim prefers to avoid direct links. Guy
