  1. getting ready to start on Netflix: This looks quite intriguing. I'll watch about anything with Martin Freeman in it, he's a fantastic character actor.
  2. It all depends on the specs of the soundcard. There's an older iMac here in the house with a 24bit soundcard, it can sample as high as 24/96. My newer Mac has a 32bit soundcard, though I generally use 24bit/192khz for my vinyl transfers. All you really need is a turntable, a phono preamp and the computer. If you let me know what operating system you use I could recommend some software.
  3. It just increases the things I start and never finish at least ten times mor....
  4. The sound of a thunderstorm is one of the coolest things on the planet, something we take for granted, but it's like a symphony...
  5. and... When I get a job, I'm NEVER going to eat another fucking peanut butter sandwich as long as I live. Try living off nothing but peanut butter sandwiches for awhile, it's almost as much fun as a 24 hour root canal with no gas. Basically what I'm thinking right now is...FUCK!
  6. I resemble that remark. I'm also thinking that when you can't even afford the Dollar menu at McDonalds, life is trying to tell you something...
  7. On the other end of the spectrum from Debussy...Paganini was evidently one of the few people that could even perform his pieces at the time, as technically challenging as they were. At least that's the accepted "myth".
  8. I'm thinking this is a completely awesome album cover...
  9. I'm thinking that I honestly don't know what to think. Just sad I guess.
  10. treasure's abound in the Jazzbo library. I love the way this guy writes, so incredibly witty. He's quickly become a favorite.
  11. Yeah, that was a nice addition! I've actually never watched the series in any kind of order. Right now, TV comfort food...a That 70's Show marathon, working my way through Season 6.
  12. "Before Frying up a nice fat armadillo...roll up a fatty and get fried"
  13. I'd say somewhere around 70% of the music I've loved in my life has come from the UK, so I feel qualified to crash the party.
  14. Very cool album. No CD is worth $50.
  15. *on hold for Amir* Thanks! re: adapters. Apple does make a variety of adapters that can be swapped out for different countries, they are sold separately though. Eric - glad you got yours hooked up, I had a feeling there would be an error message if you attempted to send multiple signals. The only reason I no longer use mine is because my computer is now part of my entertainment center, so the audio connection is right there. These Mac Mini's with the built in HDMI output are amazingly versatile devices.
  16. ditto
  17. and the JRVG series.
  18. iTunes will recognize the Express, a drop down menu is added to the bottom right corner of the iTunes window that lets you select the output (computer or Express). I've never used it with multiple computers, but I have both OSX and Windows 7 on my Mac Mini, both versions of iTunes worked with the Express.
  19. That 1998 batch might have been the first straw in the breaking camel's back, the West Coast classics releases and the 10inch LP reissue Conns all tanked in the sales department (if memory serves). They vanished from the stores in a blink of an eye.
  20. The quality of the streaming audio is stunning. It bypasses the computer soundcard entirely, iTunes broadcasts the data digitally to the router, the DA converter is in the router itself. It allows you to use iTunes to play music in another room, while still being able to use your computer soundcard for other things at the same time.
  21. I have an Airport Express that I no longer require in my current computer setup, it was only used for about 9 months.. GREAT wireless router, works with either Mac or PC. Has the Air Tunes capability, plug it in behind your stereo and run an audio cable, then you can stream music from iTunes from any computer in the house to the same stereo. All original packaging included, I reset it back to factory defaults so it's like new. Retail - $99, Used on Amazon - $69 $50 to a good home.
  22. Just trying to rule out the Modem as a possible cause. Thus suggested a reset of that device (to clear the flash memory). When troubleshooting internet stuff, I always like to start at the source (modem, router, etc) and then move to the computer last.
  23. that's more bothersome than the phone itself. Of course the phone uses location data, how do people think these GPS devices really work?
  24. I've got some friends that are just now getting into jazz, these kind of sets are pretty awesome for newbies. Lots of classic albums in 1 place for a decent price. I'd recommend them on that basis alone. My guess is that Jim is probably correct and a Blue Note set will show up anytime now. A Savoy box would be cool too....
