The Jazz Connection was a fairly short-lived club on Lovers Lane and Inwood. It was around in 1997 and perhaps no other year. I recollect seeing Marchel Ivery there with Joey DeFrancesco, and a guitarist I seriously disliked. The space is now a veterinary clinic. Are you possibly referring to Sambuca in Addison (there's a small plane airport in Addison)? I recollect seeing Marchel there at least one time; I believe opening for David Newman.

Is there a publication or a website (similar to New York City Jazz Record or bigapple.com) that has a fairly complete listing of upcoming jazz events in Chicago, or collects links to most of the jazz venues in Chicago?

Sadly, you are too late--the 8 track museum is gone--no longer a mysterious destination on Commerce Street in Deep Ellum. When I think of how many times I walked by without venturing inside, it is almost as if I just did not care.

More than a little annoying, and I wasn't able to go to the Indian classical concert this afternoon, so only live music disappointment today. But at least I got the message before I left. Once I drove to Austin to hear a Hugh Masekela/Miriam Makeba concert only to be told on arrival at the Paramount Theater that the band was stuck in Dallas; now that was annoying.

If anyone besides me was planning on going to Austin to hear Henry Threadgill, there is a last minute cancellation/postponement. We regret to inform you this Friday's Master Class and Saturday's Concert with Henry Threadgill has been postponed until further notice due to traveling logistics caused by Delta Airlines' mass flight cancellation (due to the severe thunderstorm this past Wednesday in Atlanta - more info). We tried everything in our capacity to re-book new flights but it simply was not possible to find one for this weekend.Therefore, on behalf of Liminal Sound Series and Epistrophy Arts, we would like to apologize for the cancellation, especially to those of you who have already made travel and accommodation plans.
