I caught the last set by the Steve Davis Sextet Saturday night , and a fine set it was in the Jazz Messenger vein. Larry Willis was a semi-regular house pianist at the Caravan of Dreams in the mid-1980s, and he's still sounding as good as ever. Next week, I'm looking forward to the Brooklyn Underground festival for two nights.

Yes, I quite liked his baritone. I didn't know about his ailment.

I caught the last 45 minutes and liked the group; I ordered the latest Dayna Stephens CD.

The show is great; I love it. No probelms understanding the accents.

There is an audible hum that I can hear when the speakers are turned on. I can't say that I ever noticed it, or that it has bothered me, while actually listening to music, but perhaps those with better ears than mine can hear the hum and are bothered.

I don't have stands yet, but was thinking that would be a good idea. These speakers can certainly put out high volume. Have you heard Rob Garcia's The Drop and Ocean and Perennial? Both are pretty nice and feature Dan Tepfer (and Noah Preminger). I heard the group at the Cornelia Street Cafe.

He's fun, and such a melodic drummer.
